Lol I think it’s a bit more complicated than that, mate

To be fair we were at our best when getting at them further up the pitch in the first 30 minutes. The problem is that o9 hasn't the quality to play that role just like Honeyman.

At the minute our whole game plan revolves around McGeady having a good game and pulling out a wonder strike or hoping that the opposition are shitter than we are.

We play really well for the odd 5 minute spell each game, play ok for the odd 10 minute spell and then diabolical for the rest.
same as last season then

I think JR's comments on expectations are cemented in his relationship with SD and CM. I honestly think given their £ limits they were more than happy to be the big boys in this small pond as long as were hanging around the top and pulling in fantastic crowds ! Ross is still reacting to that philosophy IMO. However we must assume that will be no more and therefore Ross isn't going to be a scapegoat for the new owners

Ffs get off the mans back...we are in the turd division, unfortunately deservedly so and we will have to battle our way out. Picking on the manager to vent your frustration, will just make him develop a bunker mentality and not do us any favours.

Management will sack him if he loses a string of games and not until..

I know momentum in sport is a big factor, but when Mcgeady missed the penalty, it was if all the air came out of the tyres..

Gooch is the pentaker is he not

Yes in the 2nd half, Rotherham looked the better side

I laughed when he was asked how he planned to address the lack of clean sheets. The interviewer will probably get a bollocking for that! He fumbled around giving a response but to be fair it's not something you can detail in an interview. It's not really just a case of getting your defenders to be better! The bigger picture is to dominate games, control possession etc. If we don't do that then the opposition will have more time to create more chances. He's definitely looking more uncomfortable every time I see him.

Why can’t we sack him for not putting a run of results together? that’s what we should be looking at, I can’t see us losing a string of games unless the players totally give up, the league is rubbish, if we lose a string of games in this league then we have massive problems, let’s not get to that stage.

Last season I was waiting for us to hit our purple patch like all other teams at the top did, it didn’t happen we limped along all season, this season is the same.

I’d love to know what they do on the training pitch
Couldn't believe we were caught offside so many times last night. One was from a free kick taken by Mclaughlin inside his own box and punted 60yds upfield. Flag goes up and we concede possession with just minutes left. I know the term schoolboy error gets overused on here but for fucks sake man.

It happened about 3 or 4 times from long free kicks. Rotherham weren't even playing the offside trap, their entire back line were stood still. How can they be offside? Just take a millisecond glance to the left/right to have a look man.

"if you arent winning games EVERY single week you'll get criticised"

we are in big trouble

Obviously some people will moan regardless but surely he has to accept that even if we’d won tonight, they way we fell apart after 25-30 minutes is a massive worry.

I’d say it was on par with P’boro showing and he did nowt to rectify it. At least nowt discernible.

And he's had more than enough time and chances to prove that his way works and more than enough time and chances to prove that he can learn from previous mistakes......

and it's about how those three groups interact.

Change comes when the owners think the manager has lost the players . The fans amplify the good and the bad !

If he wants to know how to keep clean sheets I’ll offer my advice from ten years of coaching kids football!

When the opposition start getting a foothold in the game don’t sit back and try to absorb pressure giving them even more possession in our half. Get the word onto the pitch to go at them, close them down high up the pitch and turnover possession in their half, the crowd reacts and lifts the team more giving them the added energy they lack. Time after time, season after season we’ve sat back and tried to defend with ten men behind the ball and it has NEVER worked.

Oh and I’ll say it one more time tonight, get them to be the fittest team in the league not the least fit.
good post - I haven't seen the game but 90% of everything is wanting it more, regardless of the level.

Gig's too big.....

I Coach my nippas Under 12's "B" team one of the Fookwit coaches from the "A" team who sez he's done FA shoite, plays 4 on 4 in training, whoever scores has to sit back, retain the ball and can't score again until the other team has equalized instead of trying to go 2-0 up....

Never heard so much Fookin shoite in my life......Fookin attack, kill them off...

Weekend we won 11-1, the "A team" won 3-0

I'm amazed that Ross can't understand that if you're in a big job, the pressure is constant and it never really goes away because a top manager is the one who puts pressure on himself and his team.

This fella is trying to get himself out of a jam by dampening expectations, continually saying that we are coming up against good sides.....we're now in real danger of sides playing with no fear against us as they know we won't press, we don't bully sides and we can't play with any real intensity.

This. Yes, we are in league one deservedly. But we should be without a doubt the best team in this league. It is not acceptable to say there are better teams than us in this league, and plucky little Sunderland did well to contain them. FFS we are Sunderland. That’s what they’re not grasping. Please God the new owners rectify this attitude.

Exactly what I've been saying.. our shape dissapered completely after the penalty. Up until then we were doing exactly what you've stated then it all turned to rat shit.. did Ross instruct them to drop off? Did they drop off because Rotherham got a boost from the miss and we shit ourselves? Did we drop off cos we're not fit enough to sustain the pressure? Probably all 3 but if we learn to pass then we'll not need to chase about like idiots trying to get the ball back.. all of that lies with the way we train, the way the team is set up and the way we manage games and it all lies with the Boss and his staff.
