Fans to blame?

The fans are to blame yes, but not for the result tonight.

They’re to blame for Ross still having a job. Far too many people are content to watch the shit his teams serve up week in week out. If your customers don’t demand better service and you still get 30000ish turning up to give you their money, why would you change?

Anyone who thinks Ross should’ve left the ground tonight an employee of Sunderland AFC has no idea what it takes to achieve success.

I can understand why we appointed him last summer. Cheap, fresh and people couldn’t have a preconception. He’s tried, he’s failed and he now needs to go.

Hopefully a double announcement - MSD in Ross out. Now that would be a lift.

You don’t hear much grief for Ross at the match which I find staggering. The bloke is so out of his depth he’s absolutely clueless.

But us not doing anything about it is helping him keep his job, I actually think it’s a disgrace we pay our money and turn up to watch his shocking ‘football’ always get behind the team but we need to show our discontent with Ross, especially to the new owners.

The performances & subsequent results will cost him his job.

I'm actually proud of the home support not acting like spoiled bairns and continue to the back the team (some of these players might lack quality but always put a shift in)

Were you there tonight? I'm not being funny in asking but I'd say the support let the manager know how we felt at full time with that display.
I stayed mate but I dont boo because I'm an adult, but I totally understand people's frustrations.

This, didn't boo, just stood there silent and pissed off at full time

I was there, and didn't boo (I never do) but was certainly very vocal, especially in the 2nd half.
The boos were loud and clear at full time, and something needs to change, for the good of the club, the team, and the fans.

Agreed, the manager is negative and dour and my view and we need some positivity to get us going.

To be 1 up so early and fail to stamp our authority on the game speaks volumes

Same here.
I never boo, but tonight was a turning point imo.
The boos were loud and clear at full time.
That 2nd half, was unacceptable, and things cannot go on as they are.
We have no direction, no real style of play, we lack ideas, we lack cohesion, and we look like a bunch of strangers at times.

Excactly mate, I'm f***ing furious tonight and I've had enough of Ross and his shit football.

I've said it repeatedly at Sunderland there's no standards any more. People are happy to see a shit team, that run around a try a lot, get the odd win and battle. Our fans turn up some are turning up because there's not a great deal else to do and are more interested in seeing their mates and getting drunk than the football so JR gets away with it.

Lets strip it back, we're in League fuckin One and some are happy just to aim for the Play Offs.

That's not knocking our fans btw - it's understandable that some are disillusioned with this boring dour knut in charge.

There’s some lads who sometimes sit in front of us. They arrive 10 mins into the game, leave 10 mins before half time, come back 10 minutes into the second half and are gone before the 80th minute. While they’re there they mess about with their phones and are on Facebook more than watching the game. They couldn’t give a fuck what happens on the pitch.

I’m not sure how old these said lads are, but if they’re only younguns it’s probably because they know nothing else except this shit.

Phrase what seems to be common now

"We need to accept being a League 1 club"

I doubt Wolves and Norwich who are now in Europe or beating the treble winners just accepted shite when they went down to L1

I’d say two were mid-20s but the other two are 40-50 ish.

Slightly odd re the phones, not least due to the fact I can never get signal when I’m trying to check other scores.

When the stuff on the pitch is a bit more entertaining they may want to see more of it.

I agree though, I don’t know why you’d bother spending the money to watch half a game.

It’s f***ing crap but there’s a lot of negativity in the ground for me. It’s like people are waiting for it to go to shit so they can jump on their backs.

That's not what I saw and heard tonight. I think back to the '80s and unless me memory is playing tricks the current crop of players don't get anywhere near the stick that those players received when things didn't go well.

All I saw around me was the fans getting behind the players and willing them on, which you can't knock given that we were in the process of being passed around the pitch by Rotherham.

I can't knock anyone for not accepting being second best to Rotherham at home, but all around me weren't jumping on their backs, they were trying to get them playing.

Mate after the equaliser the atmosphere turned pretty quickly!!! nee support for the lads and absolute Ross bashing? I don’t see how that helps matters during a game but I understand venting afterwards!

And that's exactly what i'm on about mate. We've seen that much shite that a lot of lads are happy just to turn up, see their mates, mess about and have a laugh, arrive late, leave early and get pissed. They're more coming out of habit than anything else.

Im not knocking our fans btw I just mean that the lack of feeling/caring any more allows JR to plod on with mediocrity.

As a result - if we win a few games and arent getting beaten every week a lot of people have a kind of 'meh' attitude, FFS it's not that long ago we were a steady if unspectacular PL team. Now we're bothering around the Play Offs in L1 FFS and a lot are okay with it.
