Still no comment on the matter from him, are you banned @the boot ?
I’ve never been banned mate.
It’s a tragic loss of life, to the point where it makes me feel sick that the coppers on this board go out everyday and risk their lives just doing their jobs.(I know how it feels) Even though I don’t get on with a couple of them on here these cases that seem to be cropping up more often just cements the respect that I have for them.
RIP.

Can I add I have never defended any travellers who have broken the law.

AND it’s disgusting and hurtful to think I have done or would do.

Don't take me calling you out personally marra, I was acting the tinker ;)

I was surprised you hadn't condemned the twats in recent days, not for one second saying you would defend them.

What I'm saying is if you're going to execute someone you would be 100% sure you've got your man, using today's CCTV, DNA etc any doubt you don't string them up

So the burden of proof would be higher for a capital offence?

Wouldn’t that lead to a scenario where you could convict someone but because there’s not 100% proof they just get life inside? How workable do you think that would be?

I wonder if that appeal includes members of the travelling community coming forward and co-operating

Obviously I won't post it on here due to the upcoming trial etc. but their alleged actions post incident were disgusting. Police have done some stellar work (along with CPS for a change) to get a charge.

A lot of what happened will come out during the trial. Hopefully, although it won't be murder, a fair few of the others will get charged with other offences.

May is to part to blame in the shitstorm this country has become. Both when she was home sec, and then as PM. The demand on the Police now is an absolute joke, added to that there isn't enough officers. I work in a densely populated area of about 160k people. We used to have between 15-25 just on response. Last year before I moved roles, it went down to 6... It's all well and good Boris wanting 20k new officers, but they aren't just going to appear from thin air. Also, not that I'm getting a grumpy old man before I'm 30, but the standard of some of the newer officers is appalling. They either haven't got a clue, or wouldn't say boo to a goose. MET equivalent to our patch has around 30 officers per shift, but even some shifts they have run on 12.

My team has lost about 20% in the last 9 to 12 months.

Don’t get me started about the standard of probationers!!

When I was a cop back in the motherland it wasn’t uncommon to parade a shift of four officers on a nightshift in a town that had (back then) a population of around 45000.
At least here I’m always double crewed, have a Glock, Taser, baton, OC spray. Although having read the news this week my old force are apparently going to be the first in the country to issue Taser to all frontline officers, which has to be a step in the right direction.

Not announced yet, but there are developments as of 6 this morning

Since my boss went on maternity last Sept and when she comes back next month, we’ll be down 35% 😂

Not relevant to your post, but the one you were replying to...

Could be wrong with numbers, but pretty sure since becoming PS, the average service of new starters is down to 18 months.

As the old adage goes “job’s fucked”.

Not taking anything away from the memory of this lad but isn’t he the first killed on duty for ages? 1 is too many but thankfully it’s not as common as we would believe.
