Papering over the crscks

Papering over the cracks can be ok for the short term in my book as long as it gets us promoted ...even if this takeover goes through we will not be splashing the cash in january is the don is in charge as we will not be able to attract the players we need to get us to the prem and don is not going to do a short by buying a load of players and binning them off a year or so later. We might buy one or two or more likely pay the wages of better loans from the prem cast offs.Ross will get us into the top four with his defencive approach as long as we dont have significamt injuries to geedy, maguire and wick and the biscuit!Whether ross has enough acumen to get us into the prem is another matter but deffo not at the first time of asking in my book and the new owners if they appear may not be as patient as the don!In truth its hard not to come to the conclusion that ross was not sacked over the summer because we could not afford the payoff!..........Lets see how we do against rochdale as this might be a yardstick for the results up to december and the next transfer window.
Rotherham

Obviously yesterdays result was a welcome relief but it's still papering over the cracks.
It wasnt a good performance and if we were playing one of the better sides in the league it probably would of been a whole lot different
I'm still worried we wont make the cut under the current management it's just so boring and predictable to watch

Did you go m8? Accrington play from the back, always. They have excellent ball skills, and when not on the ball, press high. A pleasure to watch. Their number 7, Clarke, was excellent for the 90 minutes. We could have had 5 or 6 with better finishing. Were we on the front foot - no we allowed them to play, but we don’t know the direction Ross had given the players. We won, took 3 points and we move on.

I wouldn’t say we were collectively good for the whole game and we conceded our standard one shit goal which I fear may be two v Rotherham but equally last season we seemed to struggle to get two goal leads and that’s another yesterday which feels like progress. I’d be more confident if we shored up that defence mind.

We have players that can hurt sides at this level yet are stifled by the charlatan in charge
So then, you believe that there are players currently in the squad who are capable of producing better performances than they are turning in at the moment and that this is because they are being instructed to deliberately underperform by the person who is ultimately going to be judged on the results the players achieve.

Can you identify those players who lack the professional pride in what they do, or who are so lacking in backbone that they are cowed into submission by the fear-inducing Jack Ross that they are not giving of their best ?

If you can identify such players, then they are the ones who deserve to be sacked, not the manager.

In truth, I have seen nothing in Jack Ross’ demeanour that indicates that he is so terrifying that mature players like Maguire (30), McGeady (33), Leadbitter (33) are intimidated into deliberately playing below what they are capable of.

I look forward with interest to having these identified.

I just posted this elsewhere but probably better suited in this thread.

Are the people defending Ross new supporters ?
Were you not around last season to witness exactly the same shite week in week out ?

We are heading for exactly the same outcome as last year. We will beat the majority of dross in this division most weeks when our individuals tip the scales but will get found out off half a dozen sides who are better than average and by default 'us'.

Play offs and lottery ticket win if we're lucky or we fall short again.

Huffing and puffing to beat absolute shite like Accrington or Wimbledon isn't pulling the wool over my eyes or dressing up exactly where we're at. Ross has had 3 windows, a budget and resources greater than the rest of the league combined, he's implemented the sweet root of fuck all on us in regards style or identity. Spent an entire pre-season pushing a system that was exposed from the off and had to ditch it.
We're outplayed every other week by tin pot clubs and rely on their inadequacies in front of goal/Johnny Mac.
or the potency of first Maja and now McGeady.

If these owners have anything about them he has to go at the end of this season regardless of the outcome, if not sooner.
Even if we somehow stumble into the championship . Pissing about with this guy will crush any feel good momentum generated by this takeover.
In order to establish my credentials according to your criteria, I’ve been supporting SAFC since 1963.

One of the main problems in recent years has been the managerial merry-go-round that we have been on.

What is needed is an extended period (4-5 seasons, minimum) of stability and consistency, during which time the manager can establish a sustainable organisational culture, in the same way that Ferguson, Wenger (and before them Shankly and Clough) did with their respective clubs.

When Ross arrived, it is reported that there were not enough players to carry out training matches. Consequently, recruitment was of the ‘bulk-buying’ variety and inevitably some of these have not been successful. At the same time it was necessary to deal with the likes of Rodwell, N’Dong and Djilobodji.

He took the club to Wembley (twice) and it was unfortunate that the club lost the two games of football. Additionally, it would seem that the players, including the ‘senior pros’ (McGeady, McLaughlin, Leadbitter, Maguire) respect him and appear to have ‘bought in’ to what is being pursued.

Why not enjoy watching your club develop into a sustainable model rather than being constantly dysfunctional. Or even just enjoy 3-1 victories.

The internet has turned people into handwringing minge pieces hell bent on overanalysing everything. Fucks sake man back in the day we’d walk out of the ground happy as a pig in shit winning 3 1 away and gan for a pint.

Sod off, we did not play that well (especially the defence) but won 1-3... get over it. There is more to be optimistic than pessimistic... or do you just enjoy being morose
