VAR

Watched the post match debate on sky with neville and Carragher and they said the opposite, in that managers are being naive and as a result their teams are giving themselves no chance. Pointed out how ridiculous it was that Norwich went to Anfield and played open, and got pasted. Said the same about villa having a go at Tottenham.

It's good for the neutral though. Maybe a bit naive but if they can go at teams like that in every single game it will make the league better. Problem is its east to do in August. If/When they are 2 Or 3 points adrift in April will they be playing like that?

For what its worth I think Norwich will be alright

Aye, Souness mentioned how it was entertaining for the armchair fans in general, which was scoffed at. Carragher said he knew within five minutes of the game it was going to a hiding such was Norwichs set up. They were basically slating tactically inept managers, which they said we are seeing more of.

It doesnt at all haha.
It does

I sympathise with you for thinking that the single best thing about football is celebrating a goal.
Take it you weren't at old Trafford when we won the semi then or st James' when we won in the last minute. I don't think I really need sympathy for thinking that emotion is what makes going to football worthwhile.

Wrong on both counts.

It's tragic that you think football is entirely about eliciting raw emotion, and you evidently have no appreciation for the game itself. A true happy clappy.

I don’t understand what you are implying?

Of course football brings out that raw emotion within you.

I will respond to this in good faith, even though I'm sure you have deliberately misinterpreted what I said.

There is no implication. I didn't say that football doesn't elicit raw emotion.

I said it's tragic that he's unable to actually appreciate anything else about the game other than the emotional aspect e.g skill, athleticism, ability, tactics, etc, and that it's tragic that he thinks football is solely about eliciting raw emotion.

What if like many that his understanding of the game is severely limited and that he goes purely for the emotional side of it?

Plenty on here are f***ing clueless😆

Don’t see an issue with it. It’s only doing what the match referee and linesmen should be doing.

If the referees and linesmen were getting their decisions right and enforcing the rules properly, then there’d be no need for VAR to correct their decision and enforce the rules properly, for them.

Dodgy handball rules aside VAR still isn't getting things correct so makes no difference anyway. Do we need a VAR for VAR?

It's a shambles. It's used differently in different competitions/different countries. Used in some leagues, not used in others.

One of the amazing things about football is that instant rush when you score.

Var delays the rush to the point that it’s not a “rush” it’s a protracted feeling. Because you never know if it’s gonna get chalked off.

To be blunt, people who watch any sport solely because it feeds primitive urges and feelings, are one step up from cavemen.

I, like most people, love the feeling of seeing us score, but if all I was able to take from the experience was the feeling of sheer exhilaration at seeing us score in a hard fought 1-0 win against say, Rochdale, I would've given up a long time ago and I would be questioning my choices.

This is not an issue with VAR, or the principle of VAR, but an issue of total incompetence which is not on the part of the technology or the principle of it, but the people behind it operating it and making the rules.
