Finally hacksawed those stubborn bolts off the toilet. Took the cistern off and the whole coupling bracket is rusted and fell apart and the rubber collar thing is perished and split. Decided to go to Homebase on Team Valley later this evening as the rush hour traffic is mad. As the lawns were dry, I thought I'd mow them. Bloody back gate has come off it's hinges now! They're rusted and have snapped. Moved the little garden bench and I've got the gate propped closed with that. So much for a relaxing evening

More stuff to worry about. 😣
Evening all
That takes me right back to Dixon of Dock Green.

Where you living Soweto?

Evening everyone, as I said I was playing dads taxi today, taking my eldest to a tennis tournament via M11 and in outside lane, a car veers over from lane 1 almost at a right angle, car in front has no chance, huge crash, thankfully left enough breaking space and pulled up in time, air ambulance required. 1 bloke in a really bad way, another 5 seconds later and that was me, there but for the grace if god.

I empathise & sympathise, marra. I'm prone to quite severe IBS & it really knocks it out of ye (sometimes literally!). Sometimes a brandy helps. Peppermint water or peppermint tea also.

Arl the best fer the morra, marra. We'll arl be sending ye positive vibes.

Insane Bolts!

Evening arl. Finished me basket spreeed shhheeeettt at last.

Neen o that pap.

Nowt to say the day.

Enjoy yasels. Get revved up for Sarrada.

None of those things are by any means urgent hinny. You just focus on yersel and getting better after tomorrow. They’ll still be there when you’re fit enough to fix them.

Not at all, marra. I'm 58. But I was a mere 1 year & 10 months owld when we left EC. Me da left the pit to take a job at ICI & we moved to Billingham. Grandparents stayed at EC. Maternals down South (the A streets), paternals up North (the B streets). We visited grandparents regularly on the bus 211, 212, or dreaded 214 at weekends and sometimes stayed during summer holidays.
EAB references? I could guess, but please enlighten me!

It stems back to 70’s, there was a git wall ( end of a terrace?) that had EAB, FTM & FTB daubed on it in huge letters. It was clearly on display on the right as you came in from Grants Houses ( Horden). My paternal grandma lived at Grants Houses. Easington Agro Boys

FWIW I also knew quite a few Billingham lads who used to face the boro getting off trains home from Roker ( one has been in touch with me on here - he knew Shef & me).

It’s ok for you younguns :)

Close thing mate. Well done for driving properly. The amount of tailgating going on at speed these days scares the crap out of me sometimes.

Grants Houses is where I lived with me Mam & Dad, although I can't remember it. Born at Thorpe Maternity (Littlethorpe), then Grants Houses, then Billingham, then Sunderland (via Newcastle).
The only graffito that sticks in my mind was daubed on the big whitewashed warl of the King's Head at the village: Toddo is King. I remember thinking Todd is God would have been better. I've got a feeling Toddo might have been misspelt Todo, but I couldn't swear tivit.
There was a fair bit of SAFC/Boro aggro in Billingham but it wasn't anything I ever got involved with. In the late 60s I only had eyes for Charlton, Best & Law. Me fatha was on the verge of disowning me, I think. Then it was the 1970 Brazil team. I also had a bit of a thing for QPR, partly due to the strip, partly to Stan Bowles. Oh yes, I had a chequered past until I finally settled down & accepted my lot in the latter part of the 70s. Manhood loomed & a life of unremitting misery was about to be mine!
