One out one in is how its going to be

The truth will probably lie in between having some money to spend but also trying to spend as little as possible. There's no doubt Ross wants that smaller competitive squad too so I can see the reasons for trying to get a few out.
people have to get into their heads SAFC do NOT get to decide how much the spend on wages-league rules determine that...and investors dont contribute to tunriver...unless they do soft stuff like naming rights..which SD got abuse for when it was proposed..

I'm not writing our chances off, or dismissing any business we've done so far. What I'm saying is look at what's been said previously, get to know the fans and choose your words carefully.
but you highlighted 6-8 signings as something that hasnt happened-when it has. whether they are quality is another matter and somehting more subjective-but they have signed six new first team players..and the widonw isnt shit..so they did what they promised.

I've no problem with that, SD may have to use those ways to fund the club if investment isn't forthcoming.

It's sensible to do what we're doing, maybe a few loans towards the end of the transfer window will ease the burden of we can't get the likes of Oviedo of the books.

ewvwn if investment is fortcoming they HAVE to use those ways...the league rule is wages to turnover..investment isnt turnover..sponsorship is..

The 100 points thing is already regularly being used as a stick to beat all and sundry with.

We’ve got into a habit of expecting 2/3 of a new team each pre season. It’s f***ing nuts, and what’s led us being in league 1 in the first place.

In reality we should be building a team, which with McGeady signing a new deal we are attempting.

We’ve replaced Matthews and Ruiter, have improved at centre half and have lost Cattermole from an area we were way too heavy in to start with.

Add to that a fit Watmore, Embleton and Robson, and the squad we now have imo is stronger than last season.

I'd love us to sign a class attacking midfielder to replace Honeyman, but other than that the squad should be good enough.

Imo it’s all down to the manager now.

Don’t see why. It set expectations for the manager, most importantly imo.

I think we are stronger now than the end of last season..for sure..but wteher than at start of last season i dot know..maja was massive..

why? has it not happened?

Yes but if we get the wages down enough that still help with player recruitment as they are doing now.

I've no problem with naming rights for the stadium or anything like that if it brings in what is needed.

We should Have got 100 points last season with the players we have, and nothing really has changed. So I reckon we should get 100 points this season if the manager learns

Think it’s unfair on Ross personally...

Take Sunderland blinkers off and we didn’t have “that” good a team available last season.

Very unbalanced, little pace, athleticism. Catts, McGeouch and Leadbitter offering the same outlet too. Once we lost McGeady for the run in we didn’t have much else in the squad available, especially given injuries to Watmore & Maguire in the run in too.

The owners “biggest budget” comments weren’t helpful, and I don’t believe their “100 points” comments are either.

You can argue we bought badly but other than the two strikers we were pretty much in the free transfer market which was rushed.

This lack of investment has really fucked up our plans for this season. I suspect thats why Donald has come off twitter
I can totally believe that we need to get the wage bill down further. Makes total sense with the financial rules within the FL. the issue I have with it is the public statements about the parachute payments and putting money back into the club. I completely understand them not wanting to pump cash into the club in transfers. I don’t want that either - and we don’t need it. However I’d rather they used money they said they’d put back into the club to get us properly clear of bad contracts instead of leaving it to the club. The short term benefit is reduced - and the long term pain is maintained. It feels like they expect it’ll be someone else’s problem.

It isn't easy to bring players in when in order to do so, you are trying to ship players out who are on wages that nobody else would offer.

We are a league one club so bringing in these ideal players that everyone keeps talking about isn't going to be easy.

We all know we need a powerful box to box midfielder, someone creative in place of Honeyman and arguably a centre half and striker, but how do we get them when we are already shelling out millions in wages compared to the rest of the division.

We should probably start backing the ones we have. The majority of this squad would walk into any team in this league.
JR will have to as he'll have no choice but it will probably cost him his job by Christmas

Idiotic. Ross must be overjoyed about the pressure this created.

corrected

This

Matthews was replaced by McLaughlin.
Willis replaces Love
Ruiter replaced by Burge
Embleton replaces Morgan
Robson replaces Dunne or Stirling.

So who replaces Cattermole.

Tbh there's a few I wouldn't mind leaving and off we signed a physical central midfielder, like Dobson, and Maddisson I'd be happy

TBF, that reads like a fairly decent upgrade to me?

maddison plays a totally different positon to catts..so wouldnt be his replacement..robson is catts replacement..

.

If you pay attention to what I wrote instead of needing to be right I did say I'm talking about the one in one out policy. Cattermole is the out, where is the in.

Robson replaces Dunne or Stirling, assuming the wages for all three will be roughly equivalent and they are a loan in loan out arrangement. The other is presumably replaced by Kimpioka in the squad, or Samut.

all teams are in the free tranfer market at this level-we signed five promotion winners from this league-and had mcgeady and maja...thats an outstanidng team at this level..
and doesnt even count catts or oviedo..

Saying 6-8 signings has happened is hilarious spin - even for you

why would robson replace a centre half or a striker? robson replaces catts..or maybe sammut does..
dunne is replaced by the CB we signed...
Kimpi should be the replacement for sterling..
