The Manchester Orginals.
I'm not making this up.
I knar but 'Manchester Originals'. Could've called them something like 'Manchester Lightning' or 'Manchester Thunder' as a nod to the county team. Could've put me incharge of all this and I'd probably be doing a far better job than what some random marketing firm and the MILFS of Mumsnet have.Tbf whatever name was put after Manchester was going to attract criticism from the more traditional fans.

Far better than 'Originals'. Saw someone in a column a while ago suggest 'Marauders' and thought that actually sounded pretty decent.I have no doubt in my mind if they were called any of them two you mention, somebody would say how unoriginal and predictable them names are.
Can you put spikes on a pair of Adidas Gazelle's? Asking for a friend.Imagine all of the Ian Brown types strutting down to Old Trafford in their parkas now they're called the Originals man
Shame it’s being held at grounds that sell out. Why not grow the game bringing in “new supporters” in areas that don’t sell out?
Radical but for kids in the north east, seeing this on bbc, want to go to a game, it’s either Leeds or Manchester. .
Same in other areas of the country facing 100 plus mile round trips to watch this live.
It’s basically an attempt to belittle counties so the so called big counties can tap the hell out of any decent players the others produce
It will fail as the alienation of current fans will see swathes f empty seats after the initial games. What do you think will happen though?
All about the sambas chiefFar better than 'Originals'. Saw someone in a column a while ago suggest 'Marauders' and thought that actually sounded pretty decent.

It should be all counties involved, simple as that.
Can’t see how this initiative and t20 both survive. One will be binned.
Am I the only cricket fan on here that has never watched an IPL game on TV or has any idea that its even on, or who does not give a flying fuck which 'franchise' wins and could not tell you the names of more than two teams? You can't contirve sports with false 'clubs' etc and expect to keep the current fans happy.
I would rather go and watch Durham in the Championship than a T20 as well.
The sad thing here is that England are in a World cup final tomorrow and are massive favourites to win. If they do, the ECB will use the inevitable rise in popularity of the sport to launch this 100 thing and will then claim it a huge success, when in reality it will have been the national teams success in 50 overs cricket that did it.
I won't watch it. Durham have been excluded from it, so I will exclude myself from it. I mean imagine watching it and having to choose between Leeds and Birmingham for who you want to win?
It will also reduce the Blast to the equivalent of the league cup. A second tier, second rate after thought. It will actually be quite funny if this moves kills them both as major revenue earners for the game in this country.
Exactly and it won't be the ECB's pet project. That will mean no T20 at Durham anymore. Apparrently success in sport is now measured by getting paid lots for not being included in the competition at all.
The elite ipl players, will go through the motions and will not include ANY INDIAN PLAYERSWell the current fans of the IPL clubs seem very happy, packed stadiums, brilliant atmosphere , so that kind of negates that argument that it doesn't keep current fans happy and if you watched it ( which you say you have not watched one game)
You would see they are very passionate, so struggle to understand you criticising it without even watching one game!
As for the other points, think people in general want to watch world stars playing exciting entertaining close games and that maybe is the reason for the popularity of the IPL.
I do find it ironic that people who have constantly crictised T20 and labelled it not proper cricket, are now suddenly concerned about the T20 blast when they did not even want it in the first place.
Hopefully England's success in the World Cup will get this country playing more cricket and make the hundred a success and increase the popularity of the game nationwide which it is all about.
If the few who go to watch Durham noses are put out of joint, well so be it.
I cannot understand the basic premise
To expand the game, they reduce the amount of grounds to see it live in person
Said grounds were already sold out for t20. The fact that next year is 2020, left a huggggge opportunity to pour the money into that rather than the 100
It’s a tapping up charter and let’s not kid ourselves, it will be the likes Gayle, bravo, narine etc etc who will come for a few weeks, then disappear to another franchise league
Kids in the south west, north east may watch on tv, and say I would like to go. Well a round trip of about 200 miles, even on a holiday period will restrict that
I do hope that this season every domestic trophy is won by counties outside the chosen few and hopefully one of them will be relegated
I have no faith in the main advocates of this tournament, which is solely there to make money for the 8 and attempt to get any decent player outside the chosen, to sign for these clubs
I’ll watch it on bbc tv but I won’t be subscribing to sky.
The elite ipl players, will go through the motions and will not include ANY INDIAN PLAYERS
It will be the windies, Pakistan, banglies, Sri Lanka. How is that promoting English cricket as our big name players will not be playing?
The Caribbean premier league is being played at the same time, so that will draw some away
It’s utterly pointless. The money spent could have easily reinvigorated the t20 tournament to a wider audience on bbc tv, then those inspired could visit their LOCAL CLUBS
One simple thing would increase crowds at EVERY ground. Let england players actually play for their counties
We had the ridiculous situation where Durham were in the final but stokes was not allowed to bowl four overs.
They’ve picked grounds were crowds were full anyway, so again, how is that growing interest?
