Aston Villa Splashing the Cash

Nothing to do with bitterness, I'd say the same if it was Norwich or Sheff Utd, the amount you have spent on players who are unproven at PL is idiotic.. 20mill for a player who has played less games in 5 years than Jack Wilshire? ... You may as well have just bent over for Bournmouth.
@Boinger are you over with baggies on tour in Spain?

No, the alternative would be to use the premier league money to rebuild infrastructure, repay debt, improve training facilities and the ground while ensuring that if you were relegated you not only had the parachute payments to keep you afloat and therefore better placed to challenge for a promotion that was built on secure foundations, but that the club was also financially secure going forward.

Spending hundreds of millions when your manager is probably going to be sacked early doors because of poor results is a fools errand.

They have very little debt since the takeover.
Villa Park is in good shape - say what you like about Lerner, but he looked after that side pretty well.
HS2 is about to be driven through their training ground. Our taxes are paying for relocation/improvements . Was it even substandard before?

Why would Villa divert money to these things?

Aye what happened there then? As he backed O’Neil and houllier to the hilt then seemed to lose interest and became the most hated man in villa

You don't really understand though do you?

Mings had 2 injuries that were totally isolated, one on his knee and the other on his back. All this internet hype of him being "injury prone" is getting out of hand. He was the best central defender in the Championship last season and Championship players are being touted around at £20 million+ (Philips, Webster).

What kind of shit PL player with experience do you think a newly promoted team will get their hands on? They're hardly dropping from trees are they? Wolves didn't do too badly last season with no "PL experienced" players. I'd sooner we sign these good, young and hungry players than some PL journeyman with experience.

Surely Wolves are the example then?....although I know that would be a bitter pill to swallow for you to admit

You'd have to ask a Villa fan but essentially I think he hired under-qualified people who signed crap players on large contracts he was no longer able/willing to finance. Then they went into a death-spiral.

Well the world and his wife are using Fulham as the example on here. The truth is, more times than not, teams who spend money do better than those who don't so I take the Fulham example with a pinch of salt.

As for Wolves - Yes, they have become very mouthy these past 18 months but I guess the previous 38 years living in our shadow must have really eaten away at them. I must admit, I will take great pleasure watching us return to our rightful place as the Midlands numero uno and watch their moronic fans crawl back under their stones.

He got divorced and his wife took half of everything he had. After that, the purse strings were tightened and he wanted out. He hired muppets admittedly but it was all part of his cost cutting exercise - In the end it backfired because he sold after relegation.

Well i thought the Mags were deluded but you seem to have proved that theory wrong pretty well :)

Thinking you will first of all stay in PL then overtake a very good side in Wolves

We've been out of the PL 3 seasons since it started. Why shouldn't we stay in it given our commitment to improving the squad? We're better than at least half a dozen teams already and our spending hasn't finished.

Wolves on the other hand have been there a paltry 4 seasons since 1992 & in 2 of those they were relegated. Furthermore, out of the last 40 years, we've finished above them 38 times.

It is not deluded to think we will survive or that we will overtake Wolves again at some point in the very near future. In fact, you are deluded if you think otherwise.

Sometimes history is relevant, at other times it isn’t.

Edit: and boast about being better than teams after you’ve beaten them, and finished above them.

History can give you a clue to what may happen. Like you to disappear should Villa go down.

And a very affluent ownership.

But ALL times, it dispels silly accusations of being deluded.

We have the 3rd richest owners who are clearly committed to the club. The size, the history and the potential are there for everyone to see and that is why it was only a matter of time before we were promoted back to our rightful place.

People were deluded when they were comparing us to Leeds or forest or Sheff Wed.

Its a loan all in writing, if city want him back theu will buy him back, even just to sell him for more, my guess is 20 million they can buy him back. Pep rates him very highly. You wont treble yoyr money daft sod, he may be worth that amount but city will resign him to sell him. City are no mugs

Genuinly wonder if you understand what a loan is. It's incredibly unlikely we will with our new football strategy loan a player and develop it for City without a HUGE optional buy back fee. Which means we will minimum double if not treble our money. It's been well documented from the leadership at the club that developing other clubs players is something the club will never participate in again. Which is why Tuanzebe still is at Man Utd.
