Aston Villa Splashing the Cash

That's fair enough. But there's a big difference between us and Fulham, in terms when the signings were done. IIRC Fulham signed their majority of players on deadline day.
they weren't

they did sign a few deaine day but the likes of Chambers, Mitrovic, Seri, Mawson etc were done early

You've just had a huge increase in TV income, and you've blown at all at once, just on fees. You haven't paid a penny of the extra wages you've just committed to. You only get that increase once. You're perilously close to breaching FFP anyway. You won't be able to repeat this trick next season, even if you stay up. And if you do a Fulham, you're essentially fucked. And all to get your arses tanned more often than not. When are people finally going to cotton on to how rigged and broken the PL is as a sporting competition?

You’re probably my favourite poster on here, always talking sense.

But that's what not you said. You said we should have bought in 2-3 players when we lost way more than that from loans ending alone.
As for calling me stupid, pot kettle.

No it's not. Unless you're talking about a loan where you have to pay double triple the amount to get your player back. Which in that case isn't a loan.
Its not technically a loan but it is really, all but name. Low fee, buy back clause, even if other clubs are interested they would buy him back then sell him onto the highest bidder if theu dont want him back. Hes there to get games for the work permit. Go on the villa board every single one saying its pretty much a loan. But i guess you know best , yeah?

What does that even mean? We got cash to spend, we needed a bunch of players and we signed them. What's the alternative? Say "No, we'd rather stay in the championship"?
Hope it works out for you mate. Seems like you are having a go at being able to stay in the league. All the best for next season.

FFP is sorted. Not a worry. The man basically behind the FFP is employed at AVFC. There's not a chance this will bite us in the arse.
Secondly our owners are pretty filthy rich. They can drop money into the club on command, and they have ambitions. Spending will happen whatever happens next season.
Thirdly all players that are signed have a decent resale value. The days of old cloggers on high wages are over. We are finally run very well from the top which makes a huge difference.
if you really understood FFP you'd know that no your owners ca't just drop money into the club

that is one of the main things FFP stops

Douglas Luiz agrees Aston Villa move and Bjorn Engels also a target

Aston Villa have agreed a £15m deal with Manchester City for Brazil Under-23 captain Douglas Luiz - and hope to complete a £7m move for Reims' Belgium Under-21 defender Bjorn Engels.

Villa boss Dean Smith has strengthened his defence with the £20m signing of Tyrone Mings from Bournemouth and Brentford's England Under-21 centre-back Ezri Konsa.

Smith has also completed deals for Kortney Hause and Anwar El Ghazi - who were on loan at the club when they won promotion to the Premier League - along with Southampton left-back Matt Targett, striker Wesley from Club Brugge and midfielder Jota from Birmingham City.

Villa are also pursuing a £10m deal for Egypt midfielder Trezeguet, who plays for Kasimpasa in Turkey.

They are not going to die wondering that's for sure.
I seem to remember Fulham spending £100M last season, remind me how that panned out?

100% this. It makes a lot of money though so it probably wont change anytime soon.

Should he stay fit he’s a beast of a defender and will be a top signing
its his 9th season as a footballer

he's not played 100 games yet so hoping he'll stay fir looks abut as likely as Wilshire being ever present for us

in fact Wilshire plays a LOT more often than Mings

over the last 5 years Mings has averaged 6 games a season

Not so long ago they nearly did die. This all sounds great on paper, but the reality is that it appears completely irresponsible.

Agree. Villa seem to spunk millions every year. Granted this year they are in the PL but they were throwing all sorts of money round in the championship. Seems on the surface like they must be sailing close to the wind

And even if that wasn't the case, you can't expect us not having a go at it. The alternative would be utterly shameful.

No, the alternative would be to use the premier league money to rebuild infrastructure, repay debt, improve training facilities and the ground while ensuring that if you were relegated you not only had the parachute payments to keep you afloat and therefore better placed to challenge for a promotion that was built on secure foundations, but that the club was also financially secure going forward.

Spending hundreds of millions when your manager is probably going to be sacked early doors because of poor results is a fools errand.

I would honestly laugh my cock off if they go down again mind.:lol::lol:

We won’t so you just worry about your league 1 business eh?

Without loan players, we wouldn’t have got promoted.

The problem is that by playing them, we can increase their value, as is the case with mings.

As has been said, they’ve needed to sign a load of players that weren’t there’s, replace players that weren’t there’s. It’s a lot different to Fulham, because Fulham had a solid side, good foundations, then decided to buy a whole new XI. Had a decent keeper then ended up bringing in 3 in the summer, just utter madness. Sign of a poorly ran club.
