Not the Red Bull shite again.

Don't tell me a Red Bull delivery van has been seen outside the SoL
As if we can afford to buy Red Bull.

People moaning about the name change. What if (and it's a big if) they took over and decided to drop the Association from our name and replace it with Red Bull and called us Sunderland Red Bull Football Club or Sunderland RBFC.

I do want significant investment, but the team name would be off limits for me.
They probably know it wouldn't be that easy in England anyway so possibly just look at the Stadium Name, Shirt Sponsor etc.

I would prefer no name change but if meant seeing a successful SAFC before I die I could live with it.

Just the world we live in these days...I remeber when logos went on shirts in the 1980s nobody wanted it but it has become accepted these days.

If it did happen it wouldnt be ideal but everyone will still call us Sunderland...I want to worry about getting tickets for the champions league game not a name.

You think, you ask people in their 20/30s now what they think of Sunderland.
What do you think the average Birmingham fan thinks of Sunderland. Sky has been around for nearly 30 years now, I'd say most football fans now have been brought up on sky.
Well if they just consume football via Sky then they're not an average fan, are they?

Why pick out an age group? 'Fans' are of all ages. If we're just playing guessing games I would say more than half of the crowd as the SOL are 40+. They are an average fan because they attend.

Sunderland are one of the biggest clubs in the country, they sit just outside the top ten of the most successful clubs in England.

If someone who watches Sky only chooses to ignore that and instead focus on empty seats, then their f***ing divvy opinion is irrelevant.

I can remember when we moved from Roker Park to the SoL. All the times we planned to move fans objected to it as 'our heart and soul' belongs in Roker and 'the club wouldn't be the same'. It was the same with the crest. 20 odd years on we are still the same club. Even now we here grumblings about the kits having a plan back and wearing red shorts. People seem to forget that we were once 'The Team of Many Talents' - 'The Bank of England Club' and one of the biggest clubs in Britain, bigger than Liverpool and Man Utd. Now we are a struggling League One club! During the 60's we change our shorts to white and had 4 different crest. It seems that the people complaining about the club becoming a franchise are the ones holding onto to materially things.

This bit is correct but at the moment we are a 3 division side. Anderlecht, Feyenoord, Celtic are massive clubs. But in the Champions League era they are small fry. Our identity has been damage since we got relegated because we are now a League One club not one of the biggest in England anymore.

Of course it has. You don't just stop being a well supported club with a long tradition because of a relegation or two.

Man City were in the third tier twenty years ago, look at them now.

I agree.

In terms of moving from Roker Park the organisation leading it, from what I can recall, was pretty made up of local business people around Roker Park. No self interest there! Im not a great one for change but if we can get significant investment I would say the vast vast majority of fans would be behind it.

Look at the facts:

1. Red Bull have admitted we would be an option given that they are looking at Div 3 clubs.

2. Sunderland has all the infastructure in place such as ground, training facilities and a fan base second to none (Which has not been fully tested in terms of potential for decades. However, two top 10 premier league seasons and a 48,000 SOL wasnt big enough)

2. Its obvious our owners need investment or would sell at the right opportunity.

We should be doing all we can to make this happen imho. Everybody could win.

Of course it has. You don't just stop being a well supported club with a long tradition because of a relegation or two.

With a considerably lower average attendance than us.

Red Bull could give out free drinks to home fans before each game.....and mebbes even the East Stand might be buzzin' for once.

As I see it...Sunderland till I die showcased Sunderland around the world, on the back of this Sunderland in league 1 was highlighted in terms of biggest attendances (average) as well as boxing day etc. It has been common knowledge that SD has mooted the need for investment...This has all perked the ears up for potential buyers and moneymen......What is the biggest advertising model in the world??..........The Premier League............I see it as more of a coincidence that Sunderland has been mentioned from Red Bull where they can own a club to be in the premier league withinn 5 years for relative peanuts compared to 300 - 400 million that you would have to pay for a club already in the Premier league, in addition if this is just wishful thinking on my part, as soon as that statement from red bull was released SD and the rest should have been on the phone like a flash inviting them over for talks!
