Takeover in trouble

We signed O'Nien and Baldwin at the start of the window. It's a new thing to say clubs work on free transfers first. You can discuss a move with a free agent in the last few months of his contract. It's easier to sign a free agent because we don't have to deal with a club. But plenty of clubs discuss transfer all the time. You don't have to wait until July.

We signed them at the end of July, not the start of the window...

I agree with your other statement but if were looking for a particular calibre or quality of signing let's say from championship, those dont become available until nearer the end of a window when those clubs have signed replacements.

Great news though the difference is only £10m now rather than £26m. We've got until this time next year to get as close to parity as possible.
And that will be harder with falling gates. We wont be getting the thirty odd average gates this season.

At what stage of the transfer window did we pay money for a player last season? It was late I'm sure.

All panic over fuck all from the usual suspects.
That was supposed to be a one off. New owners, new manager, perfectly understandable. Here we have a settled manager who knows the team inside out. Knows exactly what we need and will have identified targets months ago. You can only draw one conclusion from it. I’ve got nothing against the owners but we’re in this division until they sell the club. We might get a season where we hit it lucky with a generation of top youngsters but we will not be buying our way out of this league. Not with him.

Yep, those of us who have pointed this out, or dare to suggest that they purchased the club using it's own money, have been slaughtered on here over the past year but it is clearly true. These cowboys have done a number on us.

I'm actually surprised that Short would write off his debt and then sell to these charlatans. I wonder if he regrets it now?

Why would short regret selling? The quickest way to become a millionaire is to start off a billionaire and buy a football club

Selling us to the right owner as far as short was concerned was anyone who wanted to buy us. That was the extent of finding the right owners

Right fella your a sensible chap can you say this general statement is true or false ..don ,charlie and santi have bought safc with approx 5 to 17 million of the own money (accounts will show true figure) and have used moneys owed/payments due to that business to finance the rest of the deal ? Is a simple question really!I dont know why they have to dress it up it makes business sense for them, less so for us though as we have the best interests of the club at heart they as it appears more every day dont!

I saw the spelling mistakes i thought he was just an old fekka like me trying to post with a mobile phone and giving up with predictive text.........:oops:...... the three amigos cannot hide their true nature for much longer ..We will get a clearer picture in the next few months! If they are seen to take away millions from the club and were recruiting players of the standard of Lee bungle the wear will need to be dredged for discarded rose tinted specs.Wearside is a very welcoming place if your honest ,dont shirk your round and dont treat us like flat cap wearing whippet bothering bumpkins. It can be a very cold and unwecoming place for grifters and flim flam men..are you reading this kildare boy?

To be fair the PR and Razzmatz was cracking but the mask is Fookin slipping...

There's knee bang the drum let's get 30k this year....

I could afford to buy a Ferrari if it was heavily discounted. I could probably run it for a year, but then I’d struggle with servicing costs and fuel......
An everyday punter manages to pump his life savings into an undervalued Ferrari. Nips about in it for a year. Gives it a polish, changes the seats and tries to flip it for a 30% profit. Any buyer with an ounce of sense would think, you can’t afford to run this mate. I know your net worth. It’ll bankrupt you within the year unless you get rid. Here’s a 10% finders fee. If you don’t want it, I’m happy to wait and see how it pans out for you ;)

If he’s skint how did he pass the FA ownership test? He had to prove he had a certain amount of cash, did he pull the wool over the FAs eyes?

As long as the running costs don’t exceed the revenue generated by getting people to come and look at the Ferrari, he’ll be fine.

you could get your mates to change them for free and just give them a pint and a burger

This keeps coming up. The only person who has ever said he had to prove he had £50 million liquid was Donald himself. There’s never been any kind of corroboration of it.

As for passing the FA fitness test - look at the bloke who was trying to buy Bolton. He would have passed the EFL fitness test despite his previous problems with Watford and being bankrupt on the basis that he’d served his punishment.

I said this when the supposed take over was happening that the current owners dont have money and I was shot down. They dont have personal wealth like ES did not even close!

How many EFL clubs got taken over but months later it turned out that the owners were dodge? I'm nearly a fan group took out a advert on a billboard outside the EFL HQ with a list of clubs whose owners passed the fit and proper test but now the clubs are in trouble.

I would have loved to know what the “other interested parties” where offering before Ellis Short decided that these two where the best option?

Gordon Armstrong seems pretty adamant that there was another, better one, available... He might well be proven correct yet

To quote Mandy Rice Davies - "Well, he would, wouldn't he"

Not what Short wanted, presumably.

FFS all these people on here pissing themselves cos we haven't/won't spend money this window. We don't need to throw money around in League 1, nobody else does. I'd be more concerned if we were going out spend silly money at this stage

Nobody said we should but our recruitment has been terrible in the last 2 windows. That's the problem.
