Charlie Methven on metro radio

So it isn't chicken and egg, you're blaming the fans.

The atmospheres are shit even when we are ahead, if anything they are actually worse as people get stuck into the players for any misplaced passes etc.....Somebody earlier said "if they gave us something to sing about".......Errrrr we were 1-0 up, were dominating the game and we were like f***ing mutes.

Sunderland is renowned for having people loaded with cash who have the ability to travel to London like.

If Wembley stadium was less than an hour on the metro away I’ve no doubt we’d have sold our allocation out.

Poor to have a go at the fans like.

The SOL is in the City centre, our support in the play off semi final was 6000 below our average attendance for the season.

Can’t wait for him to start begging the fans to buy tickets for big games again next season and telling everyone how special and great the fan base is.

Fuck him.

Let’s sell out v Stoke U21s and show everyone how great we are!

Meanwhile on the pitch a stray dog curls one off.

Sunderland fans were generally pathetic at Wembley and that's the truth. I use that particular word deliberately.
It was by far the worst performance by our fans at a big game in my lifetime and I'm 46.

I know, another pop at the fans .

And I'm not having that it's because we were poor on the pitch. Many fans mentally gave up weeks before the end of the season.

But keep on banging on about 46k on Boxing Day and you will feel happy with yourselves.
I think you’ll find that most posters on here acknowledge that the atmosphere was poor and charlton were better. If the question was “whose fans were loudest” and he’d answered Charlton the most people would agree.

Charlie wasn’t asked who was the loudest. The interviewer started to ask a question and mentioned that a club our size shouldn’t be at that level, he cut him off mid sentence to say charlton had brought more fans so could be considered bigger. No regard for how much our fans, hauling from one of the most deprived areas of the country, had to spend to get there for a second time in a month. We’re just a little club with unrealistic, parasitic fans

He’s not from the area, he doesn’t get us. He’s a Tory voting etonian who’s been here 5 minutes. That’s fine until he starts sneering at us and looking down at us for not blindly throwing our money at him.

Chicken and egg....Perhaps if the supporters werent wailing like fannies at every misplaced pass and got behind the team for 90 mins then some of those draws would have been wins....Problem is many of our fans go in with the attitude that they pay their money so have a right to abuse the players.....Aye you do but dont then complain when players then struggle with confidence.

The football quality hasn't been very good by us . A still haven't heard abuse of the players mind ya. You are going on like we are the problem
Very strange

Errr you're not taking anything in. We've fucked up numerous 1 nil leads this season. Fans simply aren't confident and expect at least an equaliser. Why haven't we learnt our lesson on the pitch? We had one decent effort then fuck all. Shit boring negative tactics.
It's happened many times before and will continue to happen under Ross imo

Going to be honest...

Fans were shite, team was fu*cking worse, and jack Ross even worse than that.

We’ve served shite for years, same old same old and some people are fu*king sick of it, you can’t blame them.

Some didn’t turn out for play offfs and Wembley as writing was on the wall because of how we had performed on the pitch.

Just because they bought the club doesn’t mean everyone will sit here and say, ah well we go again and pi$$ all my money on watching the useless fu*kers.

Methven has a point 100% but his main criticism was the fact we hadn’t been promoted.

He should be Asking jack Ross why he started 3 in centre mid then changed it once we were in the lead due to an injury when we had center mids on the bench. Why he continually starts Honeyman, why he bought Grigg or wyke but doesn’t play to either of their strengths. Why he signed 5 center half’s and they are all shite.

Fans are the least of our worries

We are not the problem, at times we are part of the problem, its been the same for years but people are in denial. Support is not just about turning up in big numbers. If those big numbers create a negative atmosphere which ours often can then its not great support no matter how many rock up.

He should have made it his business to make the ticket process a lot more accessible to fans, instead of taking it for granted .
Imo club has dropped a bollock with this and add in the international membership situation jumping ahead of matchday fans and being given same priority as season tik holders is wrong .
Lets hope ticketmaster works easier for lge games and pay cash on gate is still an option .

Can’t stand all this PR Twitter shite.
Old school me.
Don’t need some new stranger telling me how to support my team.

Mind you this is from a Supporter of a club that has a zero tolerance on any communication. :D
