Tbf I rarely use them but I've never had any major problems.
There are never any issues with the Tyne & Wear Metro. It’s a marvel of engineering.

It takes longer than walking.

That seems very cheap .I get Seaburn->Central Mon-Fri and apart from the occasional issue, I generally find it OK. I get the 7:52 to Newcastle and the 5:17 back. Pretty much never get a seat, and it's usually packed at those times, but I always manage to get on.
Monthly pass is £57.50. Much less hassle and cost than driving and parking in Newcastle. Service definitely needs vast improvement however.
Price I saw for all zones for 4 weeks is £104That seems very cheap .
