Leam Lane in Gateshead; I live in Wardley now. I was born in the County Durham UDC of Felling. I'm Durham through and through and support the team I should coming from where I do.
I also use this argument to wind up my many mag mates. They absolutely hate being told they've more geographical affinity with Sunderland than them lot over the Tyne. Hoy this at them and they all start talking bollox about being born in the General Hospital, growing up in Benwell or their grandad using a different miners lamp.
IMO (I'll get some stick for this no doubt) South of the Tyne = Sunderland

Your quote. Certain people on here obviously think to be one of us requires you to speak a certain way !!? BOLLOX !
Whose that?

Does it matter if you are from Sunderland or not ? I live in Sunderland , support Sunderland and have a season ticket but I am not from Sunderland. Does that make me a mag cockney Manc etc ? Certain people on here obviously think to be one of us requires you to speak a certain way !!? BOLLOX !
Just saying .
SR5...Grange Park

Reminds me of being on holiday years ago and a cockney sounding lad ask my mate "awight mate, where you from then?" My mate replied "Silky mate" the lad asked "where's that then?" My mate said "just next to Ryhope" he walked off dead pan leaving the cockney looking flummoxed.

Similarly, I spoke to a lad in Battersea - of all places, he had an accent I recognised - "Where are you from then?" "Owton Manor" he responded in a broad Hartlepool accent.

I went to werk in me perple shert!

I've literally never heard anyone say that mind.

It's quite surprising how many accents you hear at away games. Before the Bradford game earlier in the season there was a few off here in the pub. There was people from Kent, Romford, Swindon, Hawes and wherever @Bladecat decided he was from that day.
