you're absolutely right. green with envy here

Thing is though, he's probably right. We know how much clubs are willing to pay for English centre halves. If Longstaff continues to put in good performances then he'll probably catch the eye of a 'top six' club as he's young and English. If Almiron proves his talents in the PL as he did in the MLS then again he'll catch the eye of a bigger club, if not then some MLS team will probably sign him still for big money as he's proven there. £50m doesn't seem too exaggerated at all.

They've just paid £20m for Almiron, and unless he had a phenomenal 4 months that value isn't going to rocket. £30m for Longstaff and Lascelles is way over the top, even in the current market. Lascelles is 25 and hasn't pulled up any trees and Longstaff has had a handful of decent games but could well fnd himself out of the picture for them with they players they've got coming back

Lascelles, Longstaff and Almiron would easily make £50mil between them
Give your head a shake

I mean we can laugh but I think it's fair to say Lascelles, Almiron and Longstaff really would fetch about £50m. Lascelles is worth around 20-25m in the current market and anyone who thinks otherwise is just plain stupid. Almiron is worth £20m, so between 5-10m for a player who has handled the PL like Longstaff isn't crazy. Must admit he's been good the times I've seen him.

he isn't though, is he

To be honest, Longstaff/Lascelles/Almiron etc going for a lot of money isn't ridiculous. Look at what happened with Andy Carroll. In 2010-2011 he played 19 games, scored 11 goals and went for 35 million. That's right just *half* a season and he's worth 35 million. That was 2010-2011 - when Premier League clubs had significantly less income than they do now.

With existing rules about players trained in England and Brexit uncertainty...basically any English player with a handful of EPL games under their belt is worth at least 20 million. Today's 20 million is 2001's 3 million.
