New Music Releases Thread

I’m going to India with work for 5 days on Sunday so I’ll have plenty of time to listen to stuff. Any recommendations?

LCD Soundsystem and Lemonheads are 2 of my all time favourite bands so I’ll be listening to them but beyond them and Cass McCombes I’m clueless and will probably end up listening to Better Oblivion Community Center on repeat again!

You'll probably like Bob Mould (formerly of Husker Du). The Mercury Rev album may be interesting also... beyond that, see my reply to @Crayola-Kid above as far as this week's releases are concerned.

So, Panda Bear is one of Animal Collective, hence likely strangeness and Hauschka is neo-classical.

On the folk side of things - Jessica Pratt is a singer songwriter, guitar, piano, whispery vocals. Michael Chapman is an old school folkie, now well into his 70s, has recorded with Steve Gunn fairly recently. Lau are Scottish and make, I guess, electronic folk. Kris Drever (who's recorded with Roddy Woomble, I think) is their singer.
Can’t beat a bit of piano so Pratt will be on my list too.

Somehow missed Mercury Rev on the list - I've got most of their stuff so I'll probably give it a listen, too, out of habit, but they've not really grabbed me in quite a while (like back to Deserter's Songs / Secret Migration era)

I posted a couple of the Mould singles in the past few weeks, if you wanted to get your beak wet

I missed a mini-album from Flat Worms from my list and also the debut from International Teachers of Pop, who have connections to Moonlandingz (two members in both I believe).

And new single today (I should have added)

Just listened to it. Out on a limb when I say this, but that was almost definitely an album by Bob Mould
I think he just has a "Bob Mould Song Generator" machine where he sticks in a few lyrics and out pops a song

It's still good but I'd prob go back and listen to copper blue or zen arcade before going back to this

Good call on Lau @Arkle - listened at work and it's good editing music (mind, so is Mogwai and Ministry so I'm not sure what constitutes good editing music!). Enjoyed it.

W.H Lung playing Oslo in May @chunkylover53

Absolutely go if you havnt seen them. Saw them at Corsica studios late last year and I was blown away.
Really hope they put an album out soon. I remember mentioning it on here at the time.

EDIT

Just read album out in May. Get in.
Tour not playing here and London on a Saturday when I can’t plan a work trip. Gutted.

Was announced today mate. Out in April and they're touring in May. I listened off the back of your suggestion and they are indeed superb. New song on YouTube.

I remember vividly the new single from the gig. Normally I’m at the back, happy nodding my 41 year old head having a few beers. By the time they played that I was at the front, sweating, leaping about like an 18 year old.

I've gone back through the thread but can't see it. Who are you talking about mate?
