no no..its abifgdet for players like cattermole and oviedo..ie guys involved in the first team..and the owners have made clear no one has to leave...so it is sustaianable now..

Your argument is full of holes. Donald has said that their wages aren’t in line with L1 and the current business model / income stream. Oviedo and Cattermole would be released to the first suitors to get them off our books. You really don’t get economics...or typing for that matter.

Anyone on here worked for a company where they have trained you up, put you through courses etc.
Then you leave for a better paid job with seemingly better prospects?

To think at the beginning of this season, Maja would of been over the moon to be starting games for us. Yet here we are four months later and him and his agent are negotiating a move away.

if fulham in the championship didnt want him...and we in the prem did..then our scouts did very well..or fulhams very badly.

Man city declined him too iirc.

Couple of decades ago players were bigged up/touted around after performing 2-3 seasons. Now its 4-5 months.

Yeh I cant remember his agent bigging him up when he’d notched 1 in 19.

he has said no one has to leave..yes he said we have to get wages to income ratio down..we did..by getting the income up..
they are costs to be be budgeted for..so are part of the budget..but could also play in the league above, theoretically anyway..

really? Not when the likes of Oviedo & Cattermole are eating up massive money, even for the championship
but they are part of the budget! and part of the squad..other teams have players that are overpiad relative to their contribution as well you know...Villa have, or had ross mccormack for example, and that counts in their budgeting..

Agree. Look at Ramsey at Arsenal. Nothing changed with him & even captained club recently
This.

We should continue to play him until he leaves. Also, depending on which club he moves to, would any of us turn down a move to the Bundesliga or 2.Bundesliga? We have to remember that we are a League One side and could well be next season too. It's a big opportunity for the lad.

People to just making stuff up now to try and defend the owners. Sad times when our “big club” can’t keep a 20 year old on the books.
It's the previous owner fault not the new owners. They let Asoro's and Maja's contracts run down. Giving how well they have played for us there was always going to interest. The new owners have tried to get the youth signed to deals.

SD & CM thought these 2 would be gone by now. I reckon they have the best intentions of doing well but haven't got enough money to compete with other clubs. While these 2 are in charge we won't spend for example 5m on one player like Villa, Leeds or Boro can, they just haven't got that sort of money, it's not their fault and it's just my opinion, I could be wrong. Hopefully Sartori gets involved immediately if and when we're promoted

they gavnt got that sort of money? stewart spent £10m at eastleigh man...juan not charlie is the funder of the club..the owners have already said they are happy to fund a £3m loss this year and a £5m next..

This. Not that it will stop people on here twisting.
One of the first jobs (of the many jobs they had) when buying the club was to sort out contracts. As soon as the manager was appointed, the backrooms staff sorted and recruitment for the coming season was arranged they looked at contracts. We have been trying to get Maja to sign a new deal for months and months. It's not as if we waited for him to score 10 goals before thinking "hold on, might be worth us keeping him"

Incorrect. SD has already been quoted as saying if he went to Juan and asked for £6m for a player, Juan would give him the money
SD has stated that he can finance the club as far as getting to the PL, but Juan would have to finance it thereafter. By "finance" I take it to mean wage bill and transfer kitty rather than one off requests for funds to buy a player as he has already alluded to

Or liquidation under yours.

 So spending 2 or 3 mill max ends in liquidation?

We only just agreed to Maja wage demands this month, far too late. Why didn’t they do that in August?

losing money every year does...the owners are paying for the losses right now..are they going to keep doing it?
the club did what you wanted on maja, gave him what he wanted, and it failed as a strategy..

i think they want to wait as long as possible before asking juan because then we can get the money at a higher level

They’ve not invested in the team at all, yes they should.

i susoect majas wage demand were higher this month than august!
In august maja was a player not certain to start fo sunderland..a player with one leage goal to his name..
and thew owners had to worry about havin g a first team squad and manager in august..not on sorting contracts for players that might not have been first tean..if majas best offer is germany it puts into context the level he really is at..a much lower one than what people here were whinging about..

I still don’t get why this time last year when it looked bleak we couldn’t have offered him a new two year deal just to tie him down. They knew he had ability so why let him go. He’d of signed it and on a hell of a lot less of a wage than he’s turned down.

That would have required foresight and competence from the f***ing clowns running the club at the time, there was no chance of that.

Everyone reason they should have met him sooner

Tried to be clever and let things drag

He’s got a good move good luck to him but could have been avoided
