It's becoming a pattern to lose our goalscorer in January.
Our chances of automatic promotion are practically gone.

So he's gonna move abroad based on what?

Based on some player leicester have tapped up, or moussa dembele who spurs were after and then backed out of the deal

German clubs already looking at him and why not if they can get him on a free?

That has alerted the likes of Palace and , who are both desperate to recruit attacking options this month, while it is understood that clubs in Germany are also interested given that Maja is now free to agree personal terms with overseas clubs. City, where he spent time as a youth player, have asked to be kept informed over his situation.

We offered what Maja wanted (probably the agents initial demands).
Maja went to tell Jack Ross yesterday he will sign.
Agent told Maja not to sign and told Sky this without informing the club.
SD has had a go at agent on twitter and said we will aim to change his mind.

If anything, it sounds like an extension to the deadline to me.
Wow!!! A lot’s happened then. Thank you very much.

I’ll cling on to that little bit of hope that we’re going to try and change his mind then. Sounds like a bit of skullduggery there though.

Exactly. If you ask for X, are offered X, then decide you want Y at the last minute - then you’ve negotiated in bad faith.

The club needs to tell these people to fuck off. It’s incredibly important. It’s the sets the tone for everything that the new owners want to achieve and how they want to do it. We can’t revert back to “just pay then what they want” at the first hurdle. We just can’t.

Like I said in an earlier post - the message has to be that if you want to take the piss out of SAFC, you’ll need to be waving a CV around with a fuck load more than 15 senior career goals on it.

Absolutely...there’s no need for these fuckin agent games. This is League 1, apparently @10-15k in wages and a 20yr old. Come to the table honestly, tell the club what your looking for and be up front...I cannot believe there are SAFC fans out there that still stick up for this pathetic disgraceful shit!!

I’d presume if he goes to a premier league club he would naturally get more money than a league 1 club would be prepared to offer.

But he isn’t saying ‘give me 30k a week to sign’. He saying he doesn’t want to sign despite the club agreeing to match his request.

I don’t blame any player wanting to leave league 1 for the premier league.
League one to premier is a bit of a step up mate we dont know if he could do it in the championship.

But if as has been rumoured its only the likes of Huddersfield or Cardiff then what’s the point in that?

Go to a club that gets relegated, your goal scoring dries up and you end up in the championship having taken a pay cut thanks to a likely relegation clause or stay, potentially end up in the championship anyway and receive a likely pay rise as a promotion bonus and having been the leagues top scorer the previous season.

Jesus worra mess

Not true like, I've agreed with 95% of what the owners have done.

I think they have made some mistakes recently, doesn't mean I want them out ffs

But just blindly backing every decision is not the way to go forward

I think this has been badly handled, I don't understand why the put a deadline on it, and I don't understand why he tweeted all that nonsense

My view is exactly what Jack Ross's view is

Sorry if that makes me a WUM, a wind up, a mag, "mentalist", whatever you think

In reality I am just a Sunderland fan who doesn't agree with how this has been handled, don't see how that is even remotely controversial

Your entitled to your view and opinion fella, the way we all are. But, irrespective of you agree or disagree on how events have been handled.

Your, mine and everyone's view opinion is formulated on how we think think matters have been dealt. Irrespective of what your job is be that PR or whatever, you base your own PR on facts.

None of us, unless someone has insider knowledge are working on anything but pure conjecture. This will good for debate, but can cause problems for the club and player, because this can be taken to the ground tomorrow and impact either positive or negative.

JR and the owners have taken steps to play down the negative and support the player. If he gets on the pitch and does well, then hopefully he will get full support. If it messes with his head then JR will deal.

Until he does go/or decides to leave then he is our player and can still do a job while here. Whatever happens it is on his own best interest to showcase his skills. Time will tell, till then Ha-Way the Lads!

agree it should have been done behind closed doors.

even though we are still trying to get him to sign (rendering the deadline not really a deadline) at least we now know what his position is. we can chase other players whilst still trying to get Maja to sign. if he said 'i'll let you know by the end of January' then that would have been a disaster for us as we couldn't do anything during the window. theres nowt wrong with still trying to change his mind whilst simultaneously trying to sign a replacement.

wish it wasn't all so much in the public domain though. hopefully Stewart Donald and them know what they are doing

This is it for me. Making it public increases pressure and can/has caused chaos. We’ve got one of or biggest games tomorrow and we might now be without our most important player because the knifes are out and it’s going to be more about him than the game. Kept privately tomorrow would be no different to Blackpool which was arguably his best game.

Think Donald was a bit naive how much uproar it would cause (both making deadline public and today’s tweets) because he’s tried to protect him since. I think he will probably regret it now.

By all accounts they most definitely did give a figure which they would accept. Then they decided not to accept their own figure, at the last minute, prompting the agent to phone sky and leak the story.

What’s happened here is that the club has cut the greedy bastards off at the knees by meeting their demands early, and giving a deadline early in the window to avoid a last minute panic contract. The club has basically prevented the argent from doing what agents do, and essentially blackmailing clubs in the last week of the window.

I wouldn't want to spoil your fun of trawling through 50 pages of stimulating debate this afternoon.

(Maja now not signing after saying yesterday he was, SD tweeted it after agent told SSN before him, meltdown occured shortly after)
