What was the 'H' like? The one and only time in my life I've been offered heroin was in Hogans.

Blue House or Charltons maybe
Went in couple times in late 80s/early 90s when people still went down hylton road for a change from the town , didnt seem as bad as expectedCould imagine the old Round Robin in pennywell being rough back in the day.
It certainly looks picturesqueWent in couple times in late 80s/early 90s when people still went down hylton road for a change from the town , didnt seem as bad as expected
Its exactly the same if not worse all over the country, its not just a Sunderland thing....
Is the Blue House still open? It’s hard to tell from the road.

Cue the puns.I’m from that area and never liked that pub, friend of mine got a pool cue rammed up his arse in there.
I'm a bit of a gobshite in drink but I as always quiet in there .Could imagine the old Round Robin in pennywell being rough back in the day.
Really? I'd be intrigued to know which route you took? If it was the A690 you wouldn't have passed one. Chester Road (A183) you would have passed 1 that has converted to a gym, but none converted to a shop. Hylton Road, 1 again, Heron Foods where the Round Robin used to be. A1231 none, B1291 1 at Southwick. North Hylton Road The Torrens partially demolished and turned into 3 separate shops. Newcastle Road - none! So not that many and hardly unreal. I may have missed a couple but again it still wouldn't be a lot.I'm not from Sunderland but driving through it on the way home from the match last night, the amount of pubs that are derelict or converted in to Herons, Londis etc is unreal
Up Newcastle road then on towards Southwick. That one on the corner that is now a Londis, The Tram Car Inn that looks derelict, Southwick club (derelict), then over the Alex bridge then on towards Ford and Pennywell where there was the Round Robin (?) Which is now a Herron. Then on to the 690 towards Silksworth where the Prospect is now a Lidl and the Double Maxim is now McDonald's. There were probably more that I missedReally?
