England in Sri Lanka Red Ball

It's going to be flat in the Caribbean so six bowlers again. 4 seamers 2 spinners

Burns
Jennings
Bairstow
Root
Buttler
Stokes
Ali
Curran/Woakes
Broad
Leach
Anderson

Harsh on Rashid like but you need Leach and Moeen's control over there.

West Indies wickets are not what they were 30 years ago. Last time we were over, the wickets were slow and turned a lot.

I agree. Windies don’t play spin any better than the Sri Lankan’s do

In rashid, we now have a leg spinner who is capable of Shane Warne brilliance at any moment. Eg his dismissal of kohli

Now before people start, of course he is no warne but the opposition know he is capable of a wonder ball. It puts doubt into the mind when facing him, which warne was a master at exploiting

Hopefully burns will find the windies to his liking. Have to give the lad a bit of time as they have with jennings

Not sure about Jennings or Burns but we are hardly in a position of strength with openers, so we'll stick with both.
Rashid and Leach or is the big decision. I'd go with Rashid as I like having the option of a leg spinner in the side and his better batting will probably keep his place.
I'd personally like to see Stone get a chance but then where does that leave Broad? So I feel Broad will keep his place in the team.

This is my line up too.

It comes down to leach or Rash. More control v more threat.

Legspinner wins everytime over a SLA imo

His control has come on a treat too. Cut down on his bad balls has helped as well.

Plus there will be times like there was in this series when it becomes a bit stale and finger spinners just don't cut it.

Rash has a great knack of breaking partnerships and picking up key batters.

This for me against Windies. Argument for Curran for Rashid on less spin friendly wickets.

Also where are all the red ball snobs now who couldn’t possibly see how Rashid and Butler could be picked?

I’m still here. I’d still argue that both have plenty to prove still.

Buttler has done way better than expected but needs some big scores. I can admit that I was wrong on him
I’ve never argued against Rashid on ability, more on the fact that he just wasn’t playing red ball stuff

Spot on with that XI.
The openers need to prove themselves or we're back to square one in that department. Sam Curran, Woakes and Leach would walk into most test sides.

Just occurred to me that Stokes is due to face the FTECB disciplinary shite soon so may not be in the Windies. In which case I'd go for Curran.

There isn’t many in side that haven’t got something to prove. Butler and Rashid have no more to prove then likes of leach, burns Jennings etc who have played the county game for seasons. Infact id say less so as they have stellar international performances behind them in ODI stuff against the worlds best on the biggest stages.

To not pick Rashid even though you think he has the ability and has proven his worth against the worlds best in white ball stuff purely because he’s hasn’t been turning his arm over on a Thursday morning at Grace Road in the county championship is ridiculous really.

I disagree
