Yes.

The Northumberland based Sunderland supporters don't put on ridiculous pantomime 'Mackem' accents.

They use their normal voices and accents.

The Durham Mags are pathetic beyond belief.

'Hooway tha Toon, wah grate us like bonny lad, why aye'

My other half (no)has even started to notice the utter wankers, even the fuckers who are from Newcastle have to exaggerate their accent. Insecure shop shouting wankers

What is pathetic is your inability to use the correct version of *'their'. Numpty.

Amazing you have to post about that. Is their or there an obsession for you?

Genuine accents are wonderful and there are literally dozens across the NE that I love.

I can generally identify people to within 10 miles of their home, even when they've been exiles for years.

Durham people over accentuating the 'Geordie' accent are fake and absolutely pitiful.

I'm 100% comfortable with my accent and heritage.
I have mates in Washington, whose accents are completely different to mine and grew up 5minutes from me. All down to where families originate from. Mine from Farra, Grindon, Barnes etc, there's from low fell, Felling etc. There's one in particular who I've heard on a regular basis, his "Geordie" accent turns up a few notches when it's owt to do with footy. Very odd behaviour and gets called the professional Geordie. My accent has much more of a mackem twang to it than most people from Washington, all down to all my family being from Sunderland.

The week leading up to a Derby match I have mates whose accents turn from being like mine to full on broad geordie. Bizarre behaviour

As people have said there's geordies support Sunderland, just as there's people from across the north east support Newcastle

It's just the abandonment of their own towns to portrait this faux view of the north east. People become "professional geordies " and doesn't represent themselves.

People can support who they want, but if you're a Durham lad or lass be proud of it and don't pretend otherwise

I agree, should be proud of being a Durham native. Bastards who go pro Geordie should be burned
