I've never heard of a cheb meaning anything other than a cock until I joined this board. I still havnt heard anyone call titties chebs other than on this board.
If the whole cheb/tittle thing is a made up in-joke amongst some of the smb I'll admit I missed that one.
Chebs is deffo tits round here like - Cheshire
Well maybe I've lived a sheltered life?I grew up in the south east and the anatomical meaning of twat was vagina, and as an insult it would rank a lot higher than twit!
That word bugs me to no end... sounds too much like the French "merde" to me. To me it sounds like what you would call the shit that is smeared on the toilet paper when you wipe.Marra
It still does here in the USRemember when wad meant a big roll of money.
Nice one marra is a light hearted saying and means well done. That word bugs me to no end... sounds too much like the French "merde" to me. To me it sounds like what you would call the shit that is smeared on the toilet paper when you wipe.
Sorry, no offense intended.
Been ages since I've heard sneck .My dad made a gate for me once and the old fellas in the traditional ironmonger shop were stumped when fatha asked for a sneck for a gaert!
Smart or clever in the USI always understood the word Canny to be a local word meaning pleasant or ok when referring to a person,
as in Canny Lad.
However I get the impression that in recent decades it’s been picked up in other areas of the U.K. and given an entirely different meaning as in clever, smart or worldly wise.
Comments ?
My dad rip asked a bloke where he could pick up some fags while in Florida . Got a dodgy look
@peachbum nice colour text marra nice 1.The word twat is widely used as a derogatory epithet, especially in British English, referring to a person considered obnoxious or stupid. It is also used informally as a verb in British English to mean "to hit or punch a person". In British English and Commonwealth English, it is pronounced /twæt/ to rhyme with that, or sometimes /twɒt/, to rhyme with hot. ... Twat is also used in British English as vulgar slang for the vulva or female genitals in general.
Yeah, that's what I figured it meant.Nice one marra is a light hearted saying and means well done.
As you do.Yeah, that's what I figured it meant.
Same in Glasgow. The ex was a teacher and told me it was her turn to go and round up the doggers one day, thought she seemed pretty relaxed about it. Turns out dogging it is how they refer to skiving up here.A American told me that some of the lads use a certain spot in work for dogging
It means skiving
Nice 1Yeah, that's what I figured it meant.

When i was Young in the 60s/70s a gadgie was a Nightwatchman on a building site.I still can’t get my head around the SMB referring to “gadgies” as if it’s a good thing. Up here the term “gadgy” is what you lot would refer to as a “scratter”.
Any more?
I think so me owld pal.
Obviously you've never worked in the yards.
Or spoke about blokes cocks??@Napoleon Dynamite
Only in the yards eh?
