The whole country is based on individual states governing themselves which keeps the local
populace happy but those individual states also have a strong loyalty to their country.

Most successful if you measure success in how many tanks you have, not social equality and all of the things in life that really mean something. Even then you could consider other countries more successful.
There's a reason why the whole world laughs at the US. They don't do that to Europe.

Totally agree. People in Europe have an odd superiority complex when it comes to how the people of the US live their lives. Pound for pound they are the most successful country in the world. Some elements of their culture might not sit well with European people but they usually neglect to identify what living in Russia/China/India/Middle East would be like.

They are successful economically but are too religious and militaristic for my liking. Their politics is a sewer.

Like any empire it's decline will take decades, or even centuries though.

It's also got some of the worst.

I think media wise it’s better now. Agree on the click bait point but people are more likely to access a variety of sources vs 20 years ago when all a bloke had was the sun/mirror/Mail/guardian telling him what to think.

You're completely wrong and/or out of date with that. Today we have people like Alex Jones and random anonymous websites promoting Flat Earth. You then have platforms like YouTube and Twitter outright banning people because of political views overnight.
This is 1000x more dangerous than mirror/sun etc.
