I suggest you take a look at the politics section, driving them underground doesn't work, its the times we live in now, makes me wonder just if it was like this in the 1930s, with the black shirts, to be honest with you, certainly with what's been going on in the world now.

Tempting to go there and play - but I'd be banned in minutes, probably. Having a Marxist philosopher for a son is certainly keeping me on my toes, and I seem to be drifting leftwards on a daily basis.

As @Grumpy Old Man alludes to, there is a wilful naive approach to this from people like mrjardine. He wants to act like he's above such petty thoughts as racism, as if it doesn't matter and racism is confined to history.

'Black people can achieve whatever they want because the barriers they face aren't that big any more'... not only is racism constantly under the surface (sorry but I've heard it at the SOL when someone called Ndong a darkie, a black ****, a nig-nog etc for about 20mins and was removed I assume) but the notion that it's not substantial enough to matter is insane.

Imagine if mrjardine faced any serious discrimination when applying for a job. He'd be howling on here every moment of the day about how hard done by he is. For some people that's just life, and it exists in part because passive racists like mrjardine are willing to continually make excuses for genuine racists like Buchans boots.

Don’t do it mate. You’re more than a match for the majority of them and they hunt in packs. You’d just end up incredibly annoyed and frustrated in equal measure.

Where religion and politics are concerned I've never seen anyone change their opinion ...... not once in 50 years.

At least people onPF will sometimes concede a point.

I've apologised a few times when I've been wrong having considered an alternative point of view.

Bigots & racists would never do that because their minds are totally closed.

The Weimar was a hive of decadence, which is why it was easily crushed, when the culture becomes too weak it begins to question it’s own value, our culture on 2018 is paper thin, which is why the vultures are out.

If I hear someone getting a bit of abuse at a match I’m just not the sort of person to get offended unless it’s directed at me or the bairn then it’s differebt. That’s just me and I won’t pretend to be anything else I’m afraid.

Blacks and whites are no different, deserve the same opportunities and shouldn’t be discriminated against based on colour. Sorr but calling someone a name just doesn’t bother me I’m afraid.

I am no more offended by a black person verbally being racist towards a white person as I would be towards a white person being verbally racist towards a black.

Now to me that is complete consistency and no grey areas and I’ve attempted to answer everurging you’ve thrown at me. It’s a shame you can’t say the same.

I don't want to derail this because this is a huge diversion, but, in my view the problem with Weimar was not so much societal decadence as massive political instability. The EU referendum has exposed fault lines in the major parties not seen in this country since the reform of the Corn Laws. This has created circumstances where political extremes can play with unnerving effect (I'm including both Momentum and the European Research Group (sic) here, as well as the more extreme elements).Thankfully, we're missing out on the hyperinflation.
