Did it as a piss take.. The BBC had banned a couple of his songs, so did this as a "lets see them ban this" statement.
He also did Mull Of Kintyre, one of the most excruciatingly awful records of the 70s , which Billy Connolly did a really funny pisstake of.
Then later "Ebony And Ivory" and "The Frog Chorus". Who was he taking the piss out of with those 45 RPM abortions ?

Yet gain the wise SMB confuse Best with favourite/least favourite.
No matter what your musical preferences, The Beatles were, and remain, the most groundbreaking and influential band of all time.
Anyone thinking different is an obvious wrang un.
Rock House - that shook my memory up.
I remember taking dogs there for an 'obedience class' which was the term used there for dog training.Aye.
I was encouraged to go by my Mam and Dad to 'keep me off the streets' and because at the time the youth club side was run by my aunt, uncle and female cousin.
To say they were old fashioned would be an understatement and they definitely weren't keen on 'rock 'n' roll, so even for an early teen, Rock House was considered to be a desperately uncool place to hang out.
But they had a decent table tennis table and as you well know there was literally bugger all else to do in Seaham back then.

With practice I got to be pretty decent at table tennis, but, regardless of practice, my success on the girl front was a consistent and spectacular failure.
Happy days.
Sure I read somewhere that Mick Jagger said to Paul McCartney 'listen to this' and McCartney said we're releasing Hey Jude at the same time..
Probably shite like but it's not cool to dislike The Beatles now as most of the population reckoned they were canny at the time.
Maxwell's Silver Hammer.
Yes, a granny song about a violent murderer. Its really clever in that way.Lennon refused to perform on the studio recording for Abbey Road as he called it one of Paul's granny songs.

I used to watch a local band 'Weirde Leefe' practise at the community place (senility has prevented me remembering the name) off Denehouse Road.Bloody hell I remember that now.
It always seemed a busy place with something community based going on most days and nights.
I passed the area just the other day and it brought back lots of memories.
When I was a couple of years older I used to watch a local band practice in York House just over the road.
