Curran about to get more than the top six combined...
Gonna be a close thing to see who scores the most, England or Ian Bell (currently 160*)
Jennings seems to lack both tbf.
Ian Bell only averages 30 this year if you take out the runs he scores against Glamorgan, who are the worst side by a mile.
A backward step, not the answer.
I’d say more a mental thing than technical if put it like that. The hesitancy is painful.
How can he play confidently against the likes of Morkel, Philander and Ashwin in County Cricket but look clueless against them in test cricket?
That has to be coaching...?
I’d say more a mental thing than technical if put it like that.
Far more pressure playing in a test match as you know that any innings could be your last, at county level there’s always another one round the corner.
Also I’d say the bowlers mentioned will bowl with far more intensity in international cricket than in domestic.
I don’t doubt the technical issues as well I was just responding to how they cope with such bowlers on the county circuit. It's mental for most of them.
But it's technical too for Jennings - and maybe Cook. I think his reactions are slowing... Or his eyes. One of them.
Because he's a posh public school boy. That absolute chancer Ed Smith just kills me. How the fuck did he end up chairman of selectors, or whatever that position is called now? He spent his entire time since retiring writing cod psychology as far as I can see.
I'm going tomorrow, and hoping the ball will swing and move around in the first session. They have to make in roads early tomorrow or it could be another loss.Long day in the field coming up tomorrow.
Can see it being like TB if there is still movement. Proper Test match batting plus bowlers missing their lines and lengths meaning India make it look easy.I'm going tomorrow, and hoping the ball will swing and move around in the first session. They have to make in roads early tomorrow or it could be another loss.
I agree with it being mental rather than technical.. apart from JenningsI’d say more a mental thing than technical if put it like that.

Cool has always had issues with the full ball but has always been very strong mentally and waited for balls in his scoring areas. I’d say his powers of concentration which were a vital part of his game are on the wane. His dismissal today was very poor.

I wouldn't be too harsh on Smith, his selections of Buttler and Sam Curran have proven decent.
It feels like they're just playing like a bunch of individuals with no grand plan.
Yeah pretty much. And able to impress the fuckwits that run English cricket with his total bullshit.Because he's a posh public school boy.
Some excellent comments on here from a range of posters about technique and difference between county cricket and test cricket. Jennings has a clear technical flaw which will get him out if bowlers bowl consistently at a 4th stump line. At test cricket bowlers just give him nothing other than deliveries that test that technique. As mentioned previously at county cricket you can bide your time, get through a tricky spell and you know weaker bowlers will come into the attack at some stage. Once a weakness in your technique gets exposed time and time it effects you mentally and this is what has happened with Jennings n recent knocks. It’s also worth mentioning that Jennings has only really had one great season at county level. I just don’t think he’s good enough which is a shame because he seems a top lad
