His latest album's really good too. Probably marginally more accessible than The Epic for a jazz noob like the OP.
I've decided I like it, there's some superb musicianship on it - I am particularly in awe of the trombone player - but generally there's just too much going on and after two and a half hours it just makes me hanker after some jazz played by a quartet.Definitely more accessible...

Aye, easy done when you're turning the E string down two tones.....Its a drop D tuning not an easy song to play I have snapped a few guitar strings tuning into this song.
