MP takes on Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley over his 'exploitation' of the club

Shes tabling another motion today saying that Fulham MUST not pull out of the deal for Mitroshit or be ejected from the PL.
The Cottagers are set to sign a Brazilian lad from Sociedad instead:lol:. No money for rafa the gaffer then.

ashley's spent £250 million on nufc , he spends anymore that will be added to the £400 million he wants and he can't sell it, as it is.

We're not competing with Bournemouth, let alone West Ham, let alone Man Utd or Man City.
We're not asking him to put "his" money into transfers and facility investment. Some of the money the club has received from player sales, sponsorship and the huge tv deals would be fine thank you very much.
I think you do understand why he gets rightly criticised by some of the media. He's an owner that doesn't have any ambition for Newcastle United, he doesn't care about the past or the future, he wants it to exist as a Premier League club so it can act as a massive advert for his shop.

I don't get the line "Ashley appointed Benitez" as if it's got anything to do with him. He wasn't shrewdly courting Benitez, and you're ignoring his entire history of appointments if you think he was. Keegan, Kinnear, Shearer, Hughton, Pardew, Carver then Benitez. One of these things is not like the other.

How much did you lose last year and who funded that?

they don't want that much i think :p

100 million to help stavely buy nufc
debate in parliment
money for rafa

and europe and a cup and stable top 10 :D

“We also feel that the club’s board need to support him now more than ever to show him that they are ambitious and are willing to be a stable top ten club pushing for European qualification and for domestic Cup success

Proper waste of time.
Makes her look good though.
Ridiculous to think parliament will intervene. What next? MPs going to parliament because a manager is playing a player out of position?

Honestly don't see what she's hoping the outcome will be other than her looking good. But they can't do anything about the strategy an owner has for his football club

Every reply is a version or mix of "we're hard done by" / "we're special" / "you don't understand".

Not a single rational adult response to the OP.

Terrifying!
I’ve just had a conversation on Twitter where I was actually told if people in Newcastle aren’t interested in the football team they shouldn’t live there.
So that will be the 1000’s of students that contribute massively to the economy :)

Some class comments on there. Especially the ones crying about how hard done to they are and how the club is being run into the ground ten in the next sentence boasting they are the only NE team in the prem

I saw someone the other day post something along the lines of ‘Ashley is temporary but we are permanent. We were here long before Ashley came, and will be here long after he goes. #ifrafagoeswego’

Slightly contradictory.
apparently not 'if Rafa gurs we gur'

I also understand why Ashley isn’t being held to ransom by Rafa, Rafa is trying the power game with a bloke who likes to be the alpha and doesn’t care if people hate him.

Utter myth. If this was true why were stewards positioned at the turnstiles to search supporters and remove any protest literature a few years back and why has he appointed a PR company (his own) to manage stories coming out of the club?

He has also personally conducted interviews with Sky at key points (last game of the season 2015 and before the start of last season) in an attempt to quell discontent.

He’s as thin skinned as they come.

I do find it stramge the amount of Sunderland fans that defend Ashley, I know the majority are on a wind up but some genuinely do think he is running the club well, everyone in the whole of football knows Ashley is a twat, even people who know nothing about football know what a twat he is, it seems Sunderland fans are the only people in the entire galaxy that defend him, I wonder why that could be?
no one gives a fuck about Ashley we only go on about him because of the fuckwhittery of the deluded mags over him and the Gurd Rafa ! No one f***ing cares about you's man it's purely for the comedy value :lol::lol:

I’d be ower the moon if short had us running like Ashley has the mags, what’s he done wrong like?. He said publicly that he can’t compete with city Man Utd etc and he won’t be tossing all his money in. I honestly don’t get the shit he gets from the media etc. If Stewart gets us up and looking like a mid table premier league side without putting the club into massive debts I’ll be ower the moon with that.

Short bankrolled you for years though the money was just spent very badly, it was only the last two years or so he stopped spending which is when you all turned on him. He at least had ambition and wanted you to do well, Ashley has never had that, imagine how much you would have hated Short if he had been doing it for ten years like Ashley has. We’ve been relegated twice in ten years under him, let’s be honest a well run Newcastle wouldn’t be getting relegated from the premier league.
