It is to stop guilty people going free because their trials have been prejudiced by idiots, particularly in a linked trial.

Here's the prosecutor who put away the Rochdale offenders, a man who's done far more on this issue than a Tommy ever will:

“We nearly lost the so called Rochdale grooming case (#ThreeGirls) cos of a far right communication … Their lawyers applied at their trial that the jury had been prejudiced by Far Right We had to fight to persuade Court to allow trial to continue Those criminals came close to being freed & victims close to getting NO justice Jury must decide on EVIDENCE, not on your OPINION”

So, what do you really want? Is your interest really in the victims of these cases and preventing further victims? If it is, then you should be behind this contempt of court decision 100% because it's there to stop defences claiming prejudice, trials being abandoned, and rapists walking free.

All the gammon stuff does appear a little racist to me, for want of a better word.

And twitter rejoicing in leaving scores of bad reviews for a business doesn't appear appropriate either.

I think people arguing and calling each other gammon, tories, lefties, corbynistas etc is absolutely pathetic. I just read it and think you sad bastards man.

It has come to our attention that a video is being circulated on social media purporting to show the police escorting people from the Gala for flying the British flag. This claim is completely false.

This was a group of activists from the far-right group “For Britain” who did not receive permission to march and were seeking to disrupt the proceedings and hijack the Big Meeting for their divisive, racist agenda. Therefore, the police took the decision to escort them from the racecourse for their own safety.

The Durham Miners’ Gala is now and has always been, a celebration of trade unionism, unity and internationalism.

We ask people not to be fooled by those who drape themselves in the British flag but who are in truth, promoting a far-right, extremist agenda.
