“My player will never play for Sunderland again”

I would use the word "play" very loosely. They seem to think the last 2 seasons are none of their faulr and the fans are begging for them to stay ,. sell all the useless buggers

If a players agent states that a player is not going to/ doesn’t want to play for our club, then it should be argued that through the agent the player has either automatically handed in a transfer request, or is automatically in breach of contract.

A player who does not want to be here will not give 100 on the pitch, so has automatically made themselves unavailable for selection by the manager. As effort that a player puts in on a match day is a pretty much unquantifiable variable, then the only way we can potentially gauge effort is by the players attitude to the club.

If the player then tells us themselves that they do want to be here, and their agent was not representing their wishes then they are told that their agent is now permanently banned from further contact with the club, and that the player either finds new representation or negotiates themselves in future.

If we manage to move Rodwell on, we can afford to keep the likes of Wahbi Khazri and he’s a very good player.
Steward Donald.

That is a cracking soundbite imo. Hes saying to the likes of thefat Tunisian one that were planning for you to be involved unless you source a transfer lucrative to us.
Hopefully has him and his agent flapping like feck. Fancy thinking wed give him away the stupid arrogant tossers.

I really don't like how even two relegations on the trot is not enough to humble the ego of a greedy footballer. This kind of behaviour is shocking when you think about it in the broader context because there are many everyday people, whom if suffered an enormous setback or failure in the workplace, their confidence and esteem may be damaged by it for years.

Yet here we have a bunch of far overpaid twats who seem to be unable to take any grasp of responsibility for their own ineptitude and think they have a divine entitlement to be at clubs better than us. We are where we are because of their performances on the pitch, not because we were somehow "lucky" to have them grace their presence at our club. They can all piss off and I sincerely hope unless they humble themselves, their career goes down the pan.

CC: Darren Bent.

These agents should be forced to watch Jerry Maguire and read his mission statement.

It was awful to hear McNair's agent talk that way to the club, surely business can be down without childish games and shame on McNair himself for letting his agent come out with the shit he has!

It will be funny as fuck if no Premier league sides match the 5m + offer and he then has to come in to get paid...I can see the f***ing turn coat going up the road shortly, seems like their kind of price.

I liked how he mentioned constantly about holding players registrations if that was needed and how the guys who have said they wont be returning will expect to walz back towards the end of the transfer window and get cheap moves/loans as a result and that just wont happen anymore. Doing that and the strain it would put on club finances wouldn't be easy, but I think if one or two tried it on we'd do it - to be able to we still need to move some out of the door though.

I wish clubs would get a set of balls. Not our club, all clubs. They all allow agents to take the f***ing piss. Look at how McNair's agent has gone on with Boro.

The solution is really simple but all clubs would have to agree to it (which they won't). The PFA has an agent service which virtually no players use because, while they ensure they get a fair deal for the players, they won't operate in the same underhand (but lucrative for the player) manner as the "private" agents. All clubs should just say they will only deal with PFA agents. If players join from abroad they are expected to hire a PFA agent when they arrive. Alas no clubs will do this.

.

We shouldn't even entertain the fuckers unless they put it in writing. It's bollocks how the agents can come in and make demands, speaking on the players behalf and yet even when doing so asking for a move isn't classed as the player asking for one, just so he's still due to whatever loyalty payments he's due to. I know people are saying "it's the agent" and not the player, but as Donald says all the players are fine to speak to, they seem to hide behind their agents and in the case of McNair tellingly in one radio interview he was saying how he wanted to play in the PL, so whilst he may not have been the one to threaten not to play again for us if these players aren't coming out and distancing themselves from these comments there's got to be something in them.

You would think the club's would try to get their shit together re agents if they totted up collectively how much these parasites are stealing from the sport each season. As somebody on here said the other day it should be illegal for football clubs to pay agents any money full stop. Their fees should only ever come from their clients. The whole thing needs to be properly regulated.

I don't think it matters myself. The clubs and the players look at the total cost right, so if they pay 1m for a 10m player, the player gets more money upfront etc. So net, whether you say an agent gets 10% of the 10m transfer fee, or pay 9m transfer fee, give the player 1.5m signing on fee and he gives the 1m to the agent, the total cost of the deal won't change. It's just a book-keeping term to me.

its a matter of principle to me. the agent is acting on behalf of the player.

If I employ a car mechanic to do some work on my car (which I use to get to work). I expect to pay for it. I don't expect my employer to pay for it and then deduct it from my wages

if a player pays the agent, then it is clear when he is making demands on behalf of the player

We all know it is the agent talking and whilst the tone may be different, the sentiment and message from the player is the same .

"He doesn't leave a penny behind" is one that baffled me.
So a player who has been shit for 2 years, managed 2 relegations while being injured a lot demands to leave the club because he is too good but feels he deserves a payment of around £6million to do so. What f***ing planet are these utter ****s living on.

I know we are not allowed to use the c word on here, but surely for Cattermole and Byrne it is justified.
