I expect us to win automatic promotion, that for me is par, not the play offs. Forget humility we shouldn't be anywhere near this league and I expect our stay in it to be very short lived.

This is not arrogant - we should graft 100% to achieve our aim but make no mistake SAFC being in the third tier is unacceptable.

With (and I quote) the biggest budget ever seen in League 1.

I'm not bothered in the slightest if it is mistaken for arrogance. We should be motivated if nothing else by shame at having fallen to this level.

I've renewed and I'll be as many games as I can both home and away but anything other than promotion for me is a failure next season.
 
I asked a St Mirren fan who I met on holiday what he thought and this was reply I got.

Jack ross is very well thought of up here......a rising star. Hes done a good job with st mirren.....they were in free fall for 2yr. Saved them from relegation when he took over last year then this year won the league outright. If he takes sunderlamd job its a big jump for the guy. Would hope it wouldnt swallow him up. The theory is the same but the club size is massive. If it pays off he could go onto big things.

And, finally, he's chosen cleverly with you. A play off place is par, a promotion better and a title, barring relegation, a guarantee of another two years whatever.

He could have gone to Ipswich and hung about mid table until they got bored. He didn't.

He will have a project with your team. I wish him well."

I know why you say it and a club like ours shouldn’t be down there (even though we deserve to be)...but we have a hell of a lot of hard work to do to be competitive and if we don’t get stuck in we’ll be off the pace
