FFS lads, just accept he's done the decent thing and has given us the chance to draw a line on the past. Going back over Short, Bain, Byrne, etc etc etc is destructive and part of the problem. It's often said, on here, that there's a self destructive attitude from people who just happy clap and accept shit ..... so why don't those people look on the bright side, for once, and accept this opportunity to rebuild the club in the right way, just a thought.

Don't think there's many people looking at what he's done negatively, there's a lot of hatered for Short, especially over the past 2 year and rightly so but I think it's widely agreed that he's done the right thing by squashing the debt.

I also think that whilst it looks like a nice gesture, it was probably the only thing he could do to get out of the club, he was covering the costs of the club and no one would have been willing to take on the debt and the day to day funding of the club in league one so cutting his loses was really the only way for him to get out.

If he gets a bonus for us getting back in the top tier or not, I really don't give a fuck, he's gone and the dark cloud has been lifted but let's not blow smoke up Short's arse for playing the only move he really had left to make.

That really is guesswork for which we will never ever know if correct.

we don't need to weigh ourselves down with guesswork.

we all agree bad decisions were made. we cant change any off them now.

we now have a level playing field, lets move forward

It's the people who just assume 'he's rich, he must be in it for the money' that hacked me off. No thought. He'd put millions in and was entitled to get some of it back.

If only his decision making had matched his early commitment

I think putting the club into administration would have at least saved him the £68m owed to SBC.

Rebuild from the bottom up, not the other way around.

Have you noticed that a keeper can normally kick with both feet yet 75% of players can’t?

Why is this?

It’s because the players are not forced to kick with both feet, but they should be at Sunderland, from a very young age

Not really, I'm sure they could have went after him through his other businesses, I doubt he could have just walked away or else he would of.

Like I said mate, I don't give a toss if he still gets something or not but I'm not going to say he should have the grace of leaving here like he's some sort of hero.

Whatever the deal is, it will have suited him first, us second.

Onwards and upwards.

He's gone ( or at least will be as soon as the deal is ratified ) FFS , just stop posting shite.
 
I certainly don't envy the position he was in. His tenure as owner had it's ups and huge downs but he's human like the rest of us. He'll regret the way it ended for the rest of his life no doubt. If I was him I'd not have kept throwing money after it either.

Hopefully this is a new chapter for us and if he came back as a fan I'd welcome him into the SOL.
 
I’m over the Moon we’re debt free. You can’t question his backing but enough is enough. Love to see us become a well run club without the shadow of debt. If we spend time in the lower leagues so be it. We’ll come again eventually.

Thanks Ellis, it was a wild ride but you’ll always be welcome at my club.
