I went to every home game plus loads away
Carlisle, hull, grimsby, rotherham, york, barnsley are just a few that come to mind

Went to all the home games. 28 in total including cup competitions. We only lost 3 of them, now we can't even win 3 at home.

Me. I was at 43 games that season. The standard of football was appalling.

This. If people were stunned by the standard in the championship prepare to be amazed next season. As I remember it we weren't exactly pulling up trees early on that season either. Once we eventually got a bit of momentum we went on a great run but we weren't out of the blocks quick.

Did a bit of a road trip to take in Bristol Rovers (at Bath) and Aldershot. Lost both games (got hammered off Rovers although tbf they did have some decent players). Also my one and only visit to the Old Show Ground (although that was in the cup)

But players like Marco, Gatesy, Monty MacPhail a my name sake made it worth while. We had some players who would run through brick walls for us and after my birthday, 7th November we were a force.

My 12th birthday, was one of the night games I was allowed to go to. This also tells me my original post was wrong, I was only 11 when the season started.

:D Don’t think it was a night game mate

Started going in the Roker end that season after 9 seasons in the Fulwell, can remember being a bit numbed playing in the third for a few games then started to enjoy it, didn't do any aways mind, much to my regret.

We were about 8th after a 0-0 draw at Gillingham, where only Hesford saved us from a battering. Marco arrived and it all changed.

Made it to about 80 percent of games that season. Loved it.

It was only great as we had a good team. We could really do with signing another Gabbiadini for 80k
Absolutely this. We desperately need to find another Marco. A masterstroke signing that one.

My first season i was aloud to go on my own I was 11, Train from Heworth, picked up my tickets from Billy Whitehurst at the ground ( my mates dad worked at Seaburn hotel so we got freebies from the players! Train home to Gateshead used to cost me £2 a game for train and a program!

We didn’t sign Whitehurst until the following season, when we were back in Division 2.

Didn't miss a home game that season. Got to 9 away games as well.

Renewed the season ticket but will certainly be going to a lot less this season.

The truth
But it wasn’t , you me and countless others have been drip fed modern sky premiere league shite for decades where the sole aim is to survive and to watch the same 4 teams battle it out at the top and to pay stupid prices for the privilege whilst making greedy agents and players rich beyond our wildest dreams.
I’ve enjoyed watching lower league Spennymoor for a few years now and I’m in no doubt that with the correct pricing and a decent new hungry team we will see newer younger generation of Safc fans coming to watch us. The momentum will build and hopefully things will be like they were back under Riedy .
