Nah need the sirius thing too. What a fuck on! Might head there and just start doing that bollocks :/ Havent got Farseer to level 5 or owt yet either! Maybe head to see her and see what I can do up those parts.
Best advice I can give is to base yourself in Procyon and gain Rep with the Sirius mob there. Eventually they'll tell you about Marcus Qwent and you'll get a permit to visit Sirius itself. Once you've got Qwent up to G3 he'll tell you where Palin's base is.

Do the 5kLy in a DBX and self destruct when you've done it to save you going insane coming all the way back.

To get the Thargoid fragments kit out the fastest ship you can get your hands on and just put a Collecter Controller in it and a Corrosion Resistant Cargo Bay - You don't need access to Palin's workshop for this, you'll get access to his base when you've done the 5kLy.

Go anywhere near The Pleiades and look for NHSSs Level 5. Eventually you'll find some with either a Thargoid Probe or Sensor. Ignore the Goid if there is one, target the Probe/Sensor and fly as quick as you can near it and release a limpet. Shut your eyes and try to ignore the Goid going apeshit. As soon as the Probe/Sensor is on board leg-it as fast as you can and jump away. Once safe drop the P/S in space and shoot it. This will give you one or two fragments which you can take to Palin. You don't have to get all 25 at once.

Told you it was a pig!

Ive popped up to see Farseer. Need mats tho to engineer the FSD and looks like I have to fkn scan wakes and shit. grrrrr. Oh well. Ill send for my Python to be delivered up here and just do mats for a bit, if I can.

Cheers.

You'll need Atypical Disrupted Wake Echoes, Strange Wake Solutions, Eccentric Hyperspace Trajectories and Datamined Wake Exceptions.

Best way to get these is to find a system near you which is in a state of Famine. Get within 1kLs of each planet in the system and eventually (you may have to try a few systems) you'll see a Distribution Centre marked on the Navigation Panel.

When you drop into the Distribution Centre you'll see loads of T9s just sitting there but there'll be lots and lots of smaller ships jumping in and out. You just have to run backwards and forwards scanning their wakes before they disappear. Its a bit of a chore but this is the fastest way to get the data you need.

Got bored doing shitty little jobs for peanuts so I'm back in Guardian territory picking up mats for:
  • Guardian Hybrid Power Distributor
  • Guardian FSD
  • Guardian Shard Cannon
I may be here some time!

F*ck*ng FDev you useless bunch of c***s!!!!!

Just got back from Guardian space with all the mats required to unlock the Guardian FSD and Hybrid Power Distributor.

This pile of shite is what the GHPD looks like compared to my old G5 Legacy(!!!) PD:

And could I find a Tech Broker who would take my mats to unlock the FSD? Could I Hell! Want to know why? FDev have realised the Guardian FSD is broken so they've removed it from the game until it's been fixed!

And they STILL haven't acknowledged that the f*ck*ng GHPD is f*ck*d either!

Wow, glad I've took a break from this. They've really seemed to fuck the game up since that last patch.

The trouble was that they didn't include any of the Guardian tech in the beta test because they wanted to "surprise" us. The upshot is that it's all bugged to Hell. Do they not have their own people to test these bloody things?

Anyway, to stop me from smashing the PC to bits I've decided the T10 is getting flogged because it has the turning circle of an oil tanker and I've just replaced it with an Anaconda which is going to be fitted for anti-Goid duties. That should keep me busy for a few days!

The maiden flight of the Zealot on her way for a bit of a fiddle with Didi Vatermann.

And here she is after everything has been engineered and given experimental effects:

8A Guardian Hybrid Power Plant
8A Guardian Hybrid Power Distributor (waiting for FDev to fix it but it works!)
Meta-alloy Hull Reinforcements
Loads of other modifications to shields etc.

Now to take her out and see if she can kill something.

Ok I've given up!

Every single time I try to access the Mission Board it sits there for about a minute then says it can't access a full list of missions.

Numerous attempts at logging/relogging later and I have enough missions loaded. Go out to complete them and as soon as I try to hand one in the game crashes.

This is seriously fucked up.

Lots of crashes yesterday, got better in the evening fwiw.

Currently undertaking the painful process of re-engineering everything back to grade 5. So far it's taken about 10 hours to get the FSD done on two ships

At least they left Dav's Hope alone, if they hadn't I would have taken my ball home with me!

Also came up with a beaut of a problem. Went to see Marco Qwent about a power plant, but I was down to grade 3 after applying experimental effects before the patch.

It won't let me convert the mod because my rep isn't grade 5, and won't let me start engineering without deleting the legacy g5 mod

Guess I'll have to buy a cheap ship just to grind back up to g5.

I've sorted the Mission Board crashes. I'd switched on the in-built VPN in Opera and that was f***ing it up.

Regarding the engineering: I decided as soon as 3.0 dropped that if I had anything legacy with an experimental I was just leaving it as is.

I had a good DOH! moment today. Yesterday I thought I'd try fitting my FdL with a huge beam laser and 4 medium shock cannons. Great fun but the shock cannons ran out of ammo really fast so I spent all last night and this morning collecting the mats needed to engineer them up to G5 increased capacity.

Went all the way to The Sarge only to discover that Shock Cannons are not engineerable!

I'd say that's a good idea going by my FSD experience.

Fully upgraded the drives were actually worse without the experimental effect (mass manager) which in turn weakens the modules.

After all that the net gain is only a couple of LY.

If that applies to all engineered gear, leaving them be is a solid plan.

Unfortunately only the FSDs were good rolls. most of my engineered modules were rushed.

The corrosive multicannons were only G1 so I'm going to finish everything properly.

Properly but very slowly.

@Giddup Sausage!

The problems with the pirate missions has been logged with FDev since 19.03.18 so hopefully they're working on it.

correct faction pirates not "mission target"

HOLY SWEET MUTHERTITTY JUSUS!!!!!

I've been tinkering around with my FdL for a while now trying out different loadouts, engineering and experimentals and I think I've just come up with the most lethal bastard possible:

Fire Group 1
4A Gimbal Beam Laser G5 Efficient + Oversized
2F Gimbal Multi-cannon G5 Overcharged + Corrosive
2F Gimbal Multi-cannon G5 Overcharged + Incendiary

Fire Group 2
2D Frag Cannon G5 Double Shot + Drag Munitions
2D Frag Cannon G5 Double Shot + Dazzle Shells

Basically, the drag munitions make the target unable to increase speed and the dazzle shells make me drop off their radar.

I took down a Deadly Anaconda in 30 seconds!

It helps that the double shot mod means I'm hitting the target with 4 frag cannons at once.

imgr.com is fucked so I've had to use another service.

I'm still doing the Farseer grind. Got her to level 5 but need Arsenic. My python still only does about 24ly but thats fully loaded with cargo and weapons. Got my AspX to about 40.

Was going to get my rating up with whoever it was next for the permit to unlock Palin and do that stupid 5k shit after that. Or might go grind my weapons.

I swapped my autocannons to rail guns at the last station I was at. They any good? Or are those cannons better? @Slippery Jim

Another balls-up. Spent hours getting Gwent up to g5 but of course he only goes up to g4 power plants.

Should've been Hera Tani all along

Went to a materials trader for the first time when I was wasting my time with Gwent.

Needed a bunch of stuff and this stuff Tellurium had a cracking exchange rate. I didn't need it for Gwent's blueprints so I used up every one.

What's that you need for G5 Hera? Tellurium?:evil::evil:

Thats pretty decent jumps for the Python and the AspX.

Personally I'd go multi-cannons every time but then thats because I'm crap at combat. :)

I always use EDEngineer. Pick the blueprints your after and add them to the shopping list so you know which mats you need to keep hold of and which you can trade.

@Nipple Salad

On Orrere 2B @ 43.82, -173.96 there's a crashed Anaconda with a couple cargo racks that drop various rare elements. Spend an hour or 2 board hopping and you're sorted.

If anyone wants an update on my progress I've not touched it since the last time I posted here and probably never will :lol:

You're a lifesaver Jim!

I need to work on planetary co-ordinates mind. Finally found it, and was about to reach my target of 21 Tellurium when it rolled under the wreck.

Chased after it a bit too enthusiastically and my SRV ended up wedged in the Anaconda. Self destruct necessary :)

Still, 18 was enough. Going to max out the DBX and engineer the Cutter into a smuggling ship, so the other rares will come in very handy too.

Whenever you get stuck in an SRV the simple way out is to dismiss your ship to orbit, if you hadn't already done that after landing, then quit to desktop and re-start in old Elite Dangerous (not Horizons.)

Because the non-Horizons version can't deal with planetary landings it resets you back in your ship in orbit. No need to self-destruct the SRV.

And planetary co-ordinates are a piece of piss if you use E.DI.S.O.N.

E.D.I.S.O.N orbital and surface navigation

p.s. ignore the video in that link. just type in the latitude, longitude and planet radius and start it. Make sure you set your HUD brightness to max in Options.

EDISON will look at your HUD in real time and talk you down to where you want to be.

You don't know what you're missing.

the learning curve is just too steep and i dread the thought of even trying to get to grip with it honestly.

i've been playing warframe ALOT recently which is also fantastically complex and there is so much depth and so much to learn going on with it - but the actual gameplay is still really fun all the while.

ED will still sit on my hardrive for now so there is a chance i'll try it again...but i can't see it happening.

i appreciate the tips and help you and a few others on this thread tried to give us :D

I don't know if you're on PC, PS4 or XBox but there is always someone on here who will mentor you. Just ask. I helped @Giddup Sausage! with a massive credit boost and still don't hate him like the Bitch That He Is Even Though He Shot Me!
