Seaburn Roker - different breed

Noticed this a few times now, bloke on Radio 6 just now described himself as 'from Seaburn' - no mention of the City of Sunderland

People also claim to be from Whitburn, Roker etc.

Whats wrang with Sunderland ? Are we losing the north side - Is a big push for independence close?
 


Suppose it's a bit like the army, anyone with a Northeast accent is automatically known as Geordie, regardless of where they hail from.
 
Was always under the impression she had an apartment on the seafront for weekends home etc.

Well thats just typical of the South of the river drift North, think she was oroginally from Barnes way, earns a bit of money and South Central not good enough for her

Least we have the town centre on the Southside, and when the club goes tits up we can start again in Hendon, our original home
