Doing 42mph in a 30mph zone...

Just been caught on Mother's Day doing 42mph in a 30 zone on Ferryboat Lane in the wife's car.

Is there anyway this could be a speed awareness course to avoid points?

Would it be 3 or 6 points and a fine?

How much is the fine?

Cheers road racers!
Mates just been done for 42 in a 30, 3pts and £100 fine, he took option of speed awareness course for £91. Bit stupid that it's less than the fine

Most likely because there are lots of busy junctions and cars merging.
Nope. I’ve just looked and it’s where it turns from a 70 to a 50 near the end of the motorway. Because we can’t be trusted to brake in time for that coming up can we?
What’s wrong with the usual “Motorway Ending” 300 yard countdown? Money spinning, pure and simple.

disgusting the new fine system like i got pinched doing 80 on the A184 when they had it down to a 50 the copper said i was lucky that he was in a good mood as i could of gone to court i got 3 points and a £100 fine

So you were doing over 50% over the speed limit? Don't think you would have any argument if your licence was ripped out of your fat fingered hand to be honest.

They may take our licences but they will never take our freedom to do mobile banking whilst driving.

i get caught doing 45 in a 30 along past Fulford Grange after graft one morning, got 3 points and £100 fine then me f***ing insurance went up £100 as well!
Just an observation but if you know you “ get “ caught doing 45 in a 30 limit then why keep doing it this is going to cost you a fortune and no sympathy from us. !

Because many speed limits are excessively low and if you stuck to them you’d never get anywhere.

1/3 of a mile from the end .Do you agree its there just to make money?

I reckon it’s there to enforce the speed limit. Perhaps it is known to the police as an area of concern.

You seem to have a real problem with the rules around driving.

The difference in breaking between 30 and 40 mph is staggering and put that into a residential area, poses a great risk to other road users in a built up area and for pedestrians.

Iirc there is a bus stop across the road from hylton castle estate and few crossings?

I got caught in Durham doing 52 in a 40 and got a SAC but I understand Northumbria are less lenient on the tolerances.

Either way it’s a good and timely reminder to reduce your speed

People get caught by it so obviously not. It's not just about the speed limit reduction though, motorways have lots of other designed in safety features that standard dual carriageways don't so ensuring people slow down to adapt to those conditions surely has to be a good thing for road safety. Only a complete and utter f***ing idiot would disagr.....ah, just realised whi I was replying to

I have a mate that regularly does 58 in a 30 on the way back home from his work. He couldn't give a fuck tbh

Pretty sure most people drive over the limit at times. Even slightly. If you do and you get caught you've just got to take it on the chin.

There are plenty of odd limits about and it seems with new roads they're more likely to go for 50 than national speed limit, but they're the rules and everyone knows what happens when you're caught breaking them, whether you agree or not.
