It'd be one of the most remarkable sporting achievements of all time, imo.
They don't eat humble pie. They will just write a story how he as overcome all the odds and sell more papers. If he were to win again they'd be huge amounts of humble pie getting ate by large sections of the media. He was treat disgracefully at times and mocked when he was struggling on the course
Let's face it, golf needs Tiger back competing at the top. It's exciting, it adds talk and column space to any tournament he plays in (look at this thread alone) and while I had serious doubts about him until recently - injury free he genuinely has the game still. My God. Reed threw it away.
Go on Casey. One in the eye for the USA. And @chenders can breathe easy.
I agree mate 100% but I don't think he will win anything. I think he will be 2nd favourite for masters off the back of this but will fade away in a month or two.Let's face it, golf needs Tiger back competing at the top. Going to be an excellent years golf viewing if this keeps up, and we still have The Masters to come, very soon

The top half dozen players are either out of form returning themselves from injuries or coming off a rest period.
I honestly could not see a fit tiger beat a fit.
Justin Thomas
Dustin Johnson
Rory
Jordan speith
I think he's in the same bracket as Justin rose
Rham
Fowler
Garcia
And all the other maybes.
The media attention is around him because of what happened to him he sells magazines.
Today was probably the best chance he will get of winning something this year. Very average tournament.
But like you say he stirs up a lot of interest. Personally I think the golf world needs to move on from him. I've just read three separate publications online about this tournament and it's tiger splashed all over them. Poor Paul Casey. Now that's a story and a half if anyone took the time to write it.

Neither DJ or JT played. Rahm and Fowler were both missing as well but to me Rahm is in a different class to Fowler.Disagree with your assessment there, every one of the "top" players you've mentioned was involved in the Valspar (hardly an average tournament), in particular Speith and Mcilroy missed the cut.
Woods has demonstrated a massive improvement in the short time since he's returned, I wouldn't be surprised if he's back in the top 10 by the end of the year.

Rahm is very impressive, I saw him on a practice day at Birkdale last year and he is a big bloke who gives the ball an incredible thump with a short swing.Best young golfer in Europe for me by a long chalk. Can’t wait to see him in the Ryder Cup.
