Running Dentdale Race ( short course). A fantastic race on closed roads in 'the hidden dale' which is turn left at Hawes.
Entries remain with the bonus of a Saturday afternoon start so you miss the match.

Ran 5 miles last monday after getting my IT band's stripped of SR Acupuncture still felt tender at the time and with the snow last week decided to just continue to rest a bit more. Went out this monday done 5 miles and went out last night done 3 miles have to say legs are feeling slightly tired after 6 weeks off but no issues with the IT bands at all regular icing after runs at the moment, fingers crossed all is ok.

I was recommended to maybe use Kinesiology tape has anyone used this before?

the enforced rest because because of the snow probably did you world of good..
the missus (no) swears by that tape, ive only had it on once when a physio strapped up my ankle/achilles so cant really comment but you often see it on the top athletes so i guess it must be good as a short term measure

Had thought about going back up the club last night til saw the training, 6miles of various efforts on the track, sod that, i'm too old for that ... tried a session on the roads last night, 6 x 800, running them about 10-12secs per rep slower than I was doing a few months ago before my back went , try one again in couple of weeks time, no rush for me (on the plus side I didn't pay to watch that shower of shit last night)

Yes for plantar fasciitis.

What's your thoughts on it?
Does it help?
buy a roll from startfitness for around 2-3 quid (don't buy KT or rock tape its expensive). check out the specific youtube vid for your 'injury' on how to apply it and give it a try - that's the only way to find out if it helps you.

anybody suffer much with sore calfs ? never use to get this (prob because i wore orthotics) but calfs are often sore now , classic case of being unsure to run through it as if its DOMS or just making it worse

Month until the marathon and I did 20.5miles for the first time the other day.

3hr 23min ish.

I was f***ing ill afterwards.

Coach at our club always tells me if the pain isn’t forcing you to adjust your running style then just plough on. . He’s 50 and his body is a total wreck now though :)

I wear calf guards. No issues. Normally get tight when i race.

I rotate my shoes & my newest pair (New Balance Prism v2) definitely give my calves a beasting. I've stopped doing long runs in them for the time being but they do seem to give me a bit of a performance boost over my Adidas Ultra Boosts at shorter distances so I'm going to persevere with them on intervals & tempo runs.

He was a top runner when younger , well respected from what I have heard . Old School always say plough on , sometimes that’s right and it just goes away and other times you just make it worse , think mine is from moving to 4mm drop and not introducing them gradually and also a club session on Icey track which I stupidly joined in even though wasn’t fit. Prob have 5 days doin nowt , roller lots and see if settles back down , one lad I spoke to said 10 days but I get itchy and impatient ..

Good pk run today @D.A , looked comfortable when I walked past with the dog , well done mate

he was aye, 29min 10k runner. Got a lot of time for him. I wouldn’t have managed what I have without him.

On the calf issue, do you do heel drops? I do 45 on each side everyday. I think it helps keep the niggles away

Aye, Neil at Coxhoe told me they were good for the calf as well as Achilles. If I ever feel a niggle there I just up my reps to 60 and foam roll more and it seems to go away. Good luck

I've been told by a few people 2 days then 2 weeks then 2 months

I managed 20.2 miles yesterday and I was shaking like a shitting dog afterwards. I only felt ok after taking dogs out today. Are you doing Manchester. It's the one I'm aiming for. I'm told its a flat course. Much more so than any routes we can do around here so I'd say 20miles here is equivilent to 25 around there ;)

77m total elevation gain. The only mile with a double digit gain is mile 14 with 12m elevation gain but also a 14m elevation loss.

Yeah Manchester mate, I had heard that about the course but wasn't sure how true it was. The 20.5 run I did had an elevation of 201 metres so that makes me feel better.
