As for meeting with the club; for what? Zero comes out of these meetings anyway so I don’t see the point. We’ve had 20 odd years of these meetings and I couldn’t name you anything meaningful that’s ever come out of them.

Not sure it was so much questioning the legitimacy of the groups, more saying we have all these groups you need to tell us who we are dealing with for what. Seems fair enough.

Maybe it hasn’t in the past, but isn’t that the point of RAWA? Even if it wasn’t a great start seems a bit defeatist to give up after one meeting.

Sounds like @GarethQ is suggesting they really just wanted Coleman there. That was obviously the best course of action all along, I think the fans would have a good chat about football with Coleman. Why the club thought sticking Bain there as well was a good thing baffles me. No one likes the fucker and we know for a fact that he wouldn't be giving straight answers anyway so even if he was asked questions about his part of the business he wouldn't really be able to say anything. Pointless having him there. Should have just put up the football man and left all the business shit to one side for a night, especially when it's linked to Bradley's foundation

Bit of a tosser comment tbh. Keith is a cracking lad. Goes home and away. Loves the bones of the club.

Do not doubt that for one second, I've been on buses with him to Plymouth for example so I know just how much he travels to watch the club he loves.

I also know he used to work for the club, possibly still does, on the turnstiles.

I also know that at these meetings 'people' have been using them as an opportunity to get autographs, meet players etc and generally just sit there like nodding dogs lapping up the bollocks being spouted and arse licking. Rather than using it as an opportunity to actually ask questions and put people under pressure. People who might work for the club for example. Or people from branches who don't want to upset the club in case they don't get invited to these events in the future.

Basically, the kinds of people the club would love to have at these events

Probably unfair to name and shame, apologies for that.

But my point still stands about certain people who attend these events who are just delighted to be there to meet some players and don't dare speak of term in case they don't get an invite to the next one

You’re missing the point.
There are certain people involved who should not be there.
Some have their own agendas and wouldn’t dare upset the club. Others aren’t capable of putting an argument across.

I agree.
But when the chance does arise and these groups get invited in, the people attending shouldn’t have personal agendas that stop them asking difficult questions.

For example, If you have business dealings with the club are you going to rock the boat?

If you work for the club, get perks or just feel special because you’re in the same room as a player, manager or ceo, are you going to jeopardise that by asking difficult questions?

Gutted about this, was so looking forward to meeting Martin Bain and hopefully getting his autograph, he's a bit of a hero of mine.

Had been trying to persuade my mates to move our season tickets up into the premier concourse next season, a good view of the game still and with the added bonus of being able to reach Martin Bain and possibly hope of an autograph. The idiots who had a go at him last week have probably ruined this plan as no doubt anyone approaching the directors area will now be viewed with suspicion.

The SLG, BLC and now RAWA have people going along to these meetings who are autograph and photo hunters that I wouldn’t let look after my cats let alone represent me as a fan.There are others that have business interests that they want the club onside with.
So how likely are they to go in with a balanced, calm, sensible argument?

I put myself up for the SMB Rep position for good reason and, in respect to Gandhi who I like, haven't said much since I failed.

Some people may choose to believe I'm just a loudmouth nutjob who lashes out at anyone who doesn't agree with absolutely I say .... fair enough.

But believe me, I wouldn't be able to do the job I do if that were the case.

I have to deal with all kinds of people and be straight with them all ..... some of these people are very wealthy and used to getting their own way, they don't here.

When I proposed myself I admit I had two ulterior motives, yes I wanted to represent the board but I didn't want to be big buddies with RAWA or the other groups.

As the Rep of this board I'd have fully represented the views of this board irrespective of how unpopular that made me.

Take this as arrogance, if you choose, but Bain wouldn't find me easy to shake off .... I can be just as sly, stubborn and cunning as him.

I've sat in on meetings of 30 or more contractors, refused to be put down, shouted down or shot down.

I know the kind of mild mannered well meaning self serving people these long standing groups attract and they're piss poor imo.

I don't belong to groups or clubs or societies and wouldn't want to, they probably wouldn't have me.

But as SMB Rep I wouldn't have been a small part of RAWA, I'd be 100% representative of the majority feeling of this board.

That's all I'd like to say, on the subject, and won't be accepting any follow up questions

Bain has made statements/promises he has to acknowledge .... a new man would still be blaming everything on Bain in two years time.

That's what every new employee does in my experience .... a new electrician/plumber will always blame the previous 'cowboy'.

I'd agree but we're in a situation where we're making a choice between something 'we hate' and something we don't really know.

As an example I'd prefer Ashley over Staveley every day of the week.

Short, as he's admitted, has failed and has a strong financial and some moral obligation to sort the club out.

A new owner/consortium may have neither.
