Christians gather around hospital to put women off having abortions

I am not much of a film buff but the first x rated film I ever saw (when I was 14) was Saturday Night and Sunday Morning. It may be old. (1961) but it is a good film in its own right and worth a watch. It was key to the changes to abortion law that followed and shows the horrors of a time when abortion was illegal but went on in backstreet parlours. No way would it be x rated now but Have a look.

Maybe the protestors are not protesting against that type of abortion, they might be protesting about the type of abortion where it is a form of late contraception, the child is the wrong sex, or the mum's figure might be spoiled. For every serious reason there is a superficial one too. What about the woman who had a one night stand, so many reasons. ....
Source.

Not sure what the statistics are but I think the point she is making is that not all abortions are due to rape or life impacting abnormalities.
This. My experience is that most abortions are done because the mother doesn't want a child at that particular time. Quite often because they were young. I've known of many abortions , none were done for life impacting abnormalities and none for rape. I know this isn't a scientific answer.:D

My main point in the thread remains that if women want free choice regarding abortions then protesters should be free to protest.

I’m not saying every abortion is for life threatening reasons. But the ones that are will be vulnerable, scared, possibly depressed, suffering from mental illness as a result. It’s those people I think we should protect. While fully recognising the protestors right to protest, just in a different place.

We all get told we can’t protest in some areas. For the same reason I don’t think Britain First should be able to protest inside a mosque, and Muslims shouldn’t burn poppies at the cenotaph. They have free speech, just not in areas that will cause distress or harm.

This is the argument I can't understand, it's not the women's bodies people are concerned about. It's the kid. Also what is the relevance of whiteness?

You have seen who Trump surrounds himself with, right?
This is him signing an anti-abortion bill

What's missing from that room?

It is the woman's body. She is creating and carrying. It's her body as much as the unformed/formed (depending on time) body that she is nurturing.

I can tell that you're the type of person who puts a lot of stock into race, gender type identities, that's not for me like so I'm just gonna leave that.

Abortion kills the baby, by comparison it has a minor effect (affect?) on the woman, therefore I think priority has to go to the kid in this discussion.

She wasn’t saying that, she was saying half of them are for “superficial” reasons.

You are always wrong. It's a brilliant film:lol::lol:

It's private property.

Muslims should be allowed to burn poppies at the cenotaph. If they wish. It's very disrespectful and they may gete beaten up but they have the rights to express their views.

I could be wrong as I'm not sure where you're based, but did you/would you vote for Trump?

But its not a baby.

Not legally but I defy anyone who has seen a 12 week scan to say that is not a living, moving, forming baby.

Obviously it's easier to say it' a collection of cells if you are about to remove it
Which at that time is totally dependant on its mothers body to survive. And yes, I have seen scans like that, I have 2 kids of my own.

I’ve seen one. In fact I’ve seen one of them inside me. I’ve seen 6 week scans of them as blobs, with heartbeats.

It wasn’t a baby.

I say this as one is currently trying to crawl up my leg and grab my phone.

It's a legal definition really as people will always disagree on that.

So in America where public opinion in the last few years has been turning more pro-life and if Trump legislates to class a foetus a baby does it suddenly become a baby?

It's opinion but the law is all that matters.
