Tyneside cinema has an essential films of the 90s season and their choices are:
Fargo
Boogie Nights
Starship Trooper
Fight Club
Blue Travail
Chungking Express

This has set me thinking, and if pushed my choices would be:
Fight Club
Fargo
Goodfellas
Heat
Reservoir Dogs
The Shawshank Redemption

I'm guessing not everyone will agree.
I'll agree with that.

One Tarantino
One Coen Brothers
One Danny Boyle
One Tim Burton
One Pixar film
One dystopian sci-fi film
One Tom Hanks starring film
One Kevin Costner starring film
One Tim Robbins starring film
One Schindler's List

That's 10.
I'm veto-ing the Tom Hanks and Kevin Costner if it's okay with you.

I'd keep Shawshank personally.
The only reason Shawshank is so popular is that they printed too many dvds of it at the beginning of dvds gaining popularity. So they basically gave them away. You couldn’t buy a DVD player without them bundling a copy in with it, and it filled bargain bins for years.

It’s not shit, but it’s so far from being ‘the best film ever’ as many lists (IMDb) included, would have you believe.

As a stand alone film, The Matrix is brilliant. I refuse to believe there are two others.

Also, I cannot believe that no one said Jurassic Park.
WTF is wrong with you all?!
Forgot it was 90s tbh, as I’ve watched it at least twice a year since it came out, even went and watched it at the cinema a few years ago when it was remastered. It’s unashamedly one of my favourite films.

All about opinions. I think it's one of the best films of all time personally.

No shame about it. It's a wonderful film.
Again I'm not so sure about the others after it, but as a concept it's brilliant. The magical moment when Alan Grant sees the dinosaur for the first time is one of the best bits of cinema, ever. Made all the better by John Williams' score

No no no no no no no no no! Watch paint dry for two hours instead, you'll have achieved something at the very least - punch yourself in the face for two hours if you must but don't watch Fight Club!

Starship Troopers though? I've seen it but can't remember a thing about it.
it had Neil Patrick Harris in it, before he'd ditched his type-casting break through role...

spent the whole film going wtf is "Doogie Howser, M.D." doing in space ffs?
