Petrol prices 'set to ROCKET'

Absolutely, give it ten years and electricity will be no different to petrol or diesel. Never mind saving the planet, there’s taxes to be had, government can’t let slip by.
Totally....like how they changed the 'Road Fund Licence' to 'Emissions'. Now that cars are cleaner it will be something else.

Brent crude has been climbing in price over the last 2 weeks. Over $63 a barrel the other day.
We are now seeing this rise at the pumps - they are never as quick to put it down on price when the price of a barrel goes down mind.

I need my motor and I don't moan about price increases because it gets you nowhere. Just accept it, that way less personal stress and life carries on.

In addition, OPEC are considering futher throttling back production to further stimulate oil prices, whereas US shale output this increasing.

The global oil economy has sweet fa to do with the politics of Brexit.

Correct.

More rigs are picking up work and are heading back out to work now. Which is good for the boys.

Agree. Pure greed

Yep. Won't be about the eco system, there's tax + vat to be had from it.
We get taxed on everything else..

It’ll be interesting to see what happens on the back of rigs, my bet is nothing, there’ll be some rants and that’s it....it’s not that long ago fuel went over £1 a litre, look at it now, really don’t know why people are surprised at this.
It's ten years since it hit £1 and has only gone up by 20% since then, aside from the fact that it's mostly tax and the oil price has halved since 2015, it's really not increased that much.

The dollar denominated oil market, no it hasn't. But you can't ignore that the value of the pound really absolutely does. Our oil exports are worth more which is great, but our imports are now a lot more expensive

it was up at nearly £1.40 a few years back. Nobody thought we would see a pre quid litre again but we did. always has been a volitile commodity

and dont blame the government.. they actually scrapped the fuel escalator and havent put the duty up for 6 years.

thats about as good as anyone would have ever expected. I cant remeber a time in my lifetime when that has happened

I think you've missed my point. Previous posters, in this thread, have suggested the fuel price increase is due to Brexit, albeit, it may be tongue in cheek.

The cost increases, on this occasion have not been influenced by Brexit, there is a much larger global economy at work, which has been more active in recent weeks due to other market forces.

Post Brexit, the relative value of the pound and whatever trade deals are negotiated will impact oil price. Just not this round of fuel increases.
