safc is a privately owned business which sadly means the primary motivation for the owner is to make money. if the concerts were lucrative they wouldnt be stopped. with him trying to sell its logical that he would want to disconnect a loss making initiative from his business.

Sure i read quinny say we made a million quid from take that tour. Acts at first were top acts that either hadnt toured for a while, had a huge following or were the in thing such oasis, take that first time round, rihanna first time round. Gigs started going down hill after that or were repeated such as take that 2nd time and rihanna 2nd time (which was cancelled wasnt it)

That makes sense. Someone on one of the links said it started off in the black then made losses last few years.

Quite a lot of them never sold out so it's no wonder they were losing money.

They were practically giving tickets away for some of them in the end like at Bon Jovi

Bon Jovi ended up being free on showfilmfirst - got two free tickets and gave them to someone on here.

The Hair isn't there anymore to arrange gigs, I doubt anyone else can be bothered. Come back The Hair.

People lost jobs when AC/DC fell through, and there was also the Rihanna gig that was cancelled. There'll have been a lot of time and money invested into those concerts and neither came to fruition. In some previous years we saw several concerts a year at the ground, but when not many stadium acts are touring it becomes more difficult.

Oasis was the "in" thing....in 2009?

You talk some shite.

The concerts were one off gigs so might be the same? Still looking about for the thread, don't think it was Streaker. These two seemed positive, and reckon it was stated

Bit more insight here too

Take that and the likes had us as part of their tour. I'm guessing ( like normal) that the promoter looks for 10 venues and hired them out. The club must have to do the remediation (pitch covering, electric and the like) and it's in their interest to have as many in the 3 or so weeks as possible. The pitch needed work after too. I do think that these gigs were better for the town than they were for the club. Didn't the gigs get the blame for a poor start to a few seasons and a postponement too?

Oasis will always sell out arenas and stadiums. To say they wont is you talking bollocks but they hadnt done a big tour for a while i seem to remember at the time so there was some behind it along with excellent supports like kasabian who released their 2nd album just then and the enemy. So no i dont talk shite
