Which the club made a loss on.

Tbf the council bailed the club out, so I doubt they actually lost that much money (if any).

The initial gigs however were very profitable, but the club got a bit carried away and started to bid for big acts (Beyoncé) and it went downhill.

Well done the council for implementing the 'local parking', I hope you enjoy the millions in lost revenue that would have poured in for the local businesses and newly built hotels, not to mention the parking fines they now won't be able to charge.

But at least the locals won't have to put up with people parking on public roads whilst their driveways are empty.

Well done Sunderland City Council.

There's one been put in place to stop our street and the surrounding area being used as a car park for seaburn Metro.

It's f***ing topper.

The more lazy twats they stop annoying local residents the better.

We were making losses so it's an obvious move.

They werent making losses, they club were definitely making a profit.....just not a very big profit. There were wider benefits to the city and region not calculated. But the small profit the club made was superseded by the disruption of hosting the events

Made losses marra. It's why the binned them.

Good for the city mind.

I still suspect we were offering massive sweeteners to promoters to get us on the arena list.
Agree,we obviously sent some tasty freebies to someone at the start for Take that etc and went from there,on the day business isn't the whole story.Promoters will want assurances from venues on sales and promo etc

Not sure how many bands are out there who you can guarantee a pay day on,risky game
Even glasto etc struggles to keep punters happy with headliners
