What is an 'acceptable' league position at the end of next season?

Top 10 I think would be a decent enough finish. Obviously it may be that we need to at least make the play offs otherwise we may go stale and then never make it back up

Won't get anywhere near the play offs without investment, if it's right there is no money to spend then probably mid table is where we will end up next season and hope to build on that for a few years because we certainly won't bounce straight back up, my guess is at least 3 years.

With David Moyes I would have thought 19th or 20th. But if we get the right manager I can actually see a high mid-table place. My dream would be the play-off final.

I don't care. All I want to see is a positive, energetic and hungry team, exciting to watch and a team that the fans can get behind and enjoy watching home and away.
This won't happen overnight, so if there are clear and definite signs that the team are heading in this direction by the end of the season, then I'll be happy.

"Many, including Nottingham Forest, Coventry City, Leeds and Derby County have yet to return, but the likes of West Brom, Sunderland, QPR, Southampton and, most successfully, Leicester and Manchester City, have found promotion easier to achieve. There has been no real pattern among relegated teams."

But as many of you point out, it's been 10 years since the last relegation and things have changed since then.

I don't think anyone can say til we get a new manager and have an idea of players. At this moment in time, I'd be happy not being relegated again.

It will be interesting to see how much the managerial appointment and subsequent transfer dealing changes people's views. I'm hoping we are at rock bottom now but you never know with Sunderland.

Appoint the wrong man and have (another) shocking transfer window, and we could be dreaming of days like this in years to come.
