Ten German Bombers

Or perhaps many of them know WW2 history, but to include every single country into a pro England song about shooting down German bombers would sound absolutely ridiculous...

Almost as ridiculous as singing about german bombers whilst at a football match 70yrs after the event.:rolleyes:

That's one of the main reasons i'd never go to England matches.

Get hammered, gan on like idiots, sing racist songs, offend the locals. Pretty much standard "Brit abroad" behaviour.

Doesn't bother me like, i'm not offended by it but it's just not my idea of a good laugh.

Only 70 year's ago...

The Scots sing about the killing of some English back in 1314 for their national anthem ffs, and even though I'm English I still admire the way they sing it with such passion.

I don't take it literally and it's only a song.

Maybe you could do the same with the German bombers song, which I think is tedious by the way, and you wouldn't feel so upset.

am not upset mate , maybe disappointed , I have acted like an arsehole with drink too many times to be able to stand on any moral high ground but its time we moved on and started behaving more like the multi cultural society we now live in surely ? just my opinion.

I really dont see the problem ?? far worse things going on in the world....again the lefty liberals getting upset

A handfull of Russians in the crowd and the English hardmens arses would of went. Chants like that are not funny. The whole nation thinks they are pathetic.......how ........many........times.........pathetic.

Racist songs?

Its trendy to be offended and outraged about everything now haven't you noticed?

Not offended and outraged, they can do what they want, but it is pathetic for reasons that really shouldn't need to be stated.

Lefty liberals striking again.

I think it's quite a boring chant, but if that's what they want to sing, let them get on with it.

Of course they can get on with it, who gives a fuck if they look like idiots with no brains.

At the same time, those of us who think they're idiots with no brains are free to say so.

Daft lads will always be daft lads; no doubt plenty of the England fans there mixed with the Germans and had nice, culturally enriching conversations. Other lads go for the drink and sing daft songs, it's part and parcel of an away day. It's no way confined to England fans mind, for example Sunderland have plenty who will go to boro and sing songs about paedophilia, there's always an element of fans who sing daft songs, that's just what football is, if people want a classy experience I'd recommend rugby or cricket. I went to the euros, got drunk and joined in the ten German bombers chants, don't really see it as a big deal at all

Pretty much. Christ, those photos from Marseilles. The idea that some people have the idea that a good day out is getting pissed right up to the eyeballs, lobbing bottles around and being obnoxious with the locals...maybe when you're 15 or summit, then again not even then.

OUTRAGED

I'd like to hear the opinions of the German fans who were there .

They're all on twitter saying how good the atmosphere was and that there was no trouble. Drinking with the English fans after the match as well

I personally find it cringe worthy.

I'm (very much so) all for remembering the sacrifices made by those during the war, however time moves on.

Germany has moved on, it is a fantastic country with friendly people, who in both a professional and personal way have been good guys when it comes to my dealings with them.

Don't forget they were rebuilt after the war & had a fresh start, a bit like going into administration. They also technically owe 'war money' for what they did over the two wars to a few countries. Money/fines that should have been paid within a few years but has taken decades & apparently they still owe some now.
