Ibrahimovic is vastly overrated. Reminds me of Darren Huckerby, score great goals but not a great goalscorer.

The op question isn't who's the better player, it's who would you rather have in safc current side. Ask that question around the country and they wouldn't care.

The theory that because you score goals in a struggling team, you would automactially score them in a better team is no where near as easy as you make it seem, otherwise top clubs would just snap up players from teams lower in the league for a fraction of what they spend on some forwards.

And there is a reason they dont

If a Newcastle player had done what Defoe has done in the last 2 years, and a mag came on here and said he would rather have that player than Zlatan, every fucker would be laughing their tits off at him and you would be probably at the front on the queue.

Ibra would get sent off for SAFC. I think Utd would do better with Defoe. They're low scorers overall, and part of the reason is the lack of movement up front.

He's not scoring goals in lower league, he's done it in top flight all his career. Can people on here not read the op, he said who would they rather have in current safc team, not who's the better player!!

He just seems a bit blind to the wider debate for some reason.

His general point is fine, in that due to Defoe's form and how he plays for us, you wouldn't really want us to swap him for anyone. And Ibrahimovic would have a strop after 3 minutes because he's about 10 levels above us. I do think someone like Ibrahimovic would completely change the dynamics of our team, mind.

Ask Man United fans if they'd swap him for Defoe, or a different 'top' club which one they'd take. There would be no contest.

I said from teams lower in the league, which means the top flight so guess its you not reading.

He has scored goals all his career in the top flight,you right,which means all the top teams have had a very good look at him,yet have not signed him does that not tell a story? Or do you know better than all them top managers.

What I was mainly discussing with you,was when you said of course Defoe would get in Man United side, nothing about who is the better player,so another assumption made by you.

He would not, at his peak he was not good enough for that, never mind now.

Defoe has been exceptional,absolute brilliant for us, the team is built around him scoring goals for us, much like it was for Bent.

I am sure at the time Bent's stats were better than some Man United forwards and we would not have swapped him for many players at the time because he was scoring for fun, however would he have got in the Man United team at the time.

The answer is no, it's exactly the same principle with Defoe.

Well I know a lot of Man U and Liverpool fans and they would love to have Defoe. It's common sense that he would score more in a better side

In your opinion why do you think all these diffrent top class experienced managers have never signed him if it's just common sense?
 
If we were to take it over time, before we signed Defoe id definitely rather have Ibrahimovic, but after we signed Defoe, I believe Defoe is a much better fit for our team, and I dont think our fans who many know, appreciates a grafter, would identify as much as the stroppy arrogance of Ibrahimovic.

Plus, what the fucks the crack with every buggar calling him Zlatan, do yous know him like? Work with him? Gan to school with him? Get out of his arsehole man.

I think the main reason is that there aren't many of them around - nearly everyone who has done it for a lower team in recent years has either moved or had a bid put in for, including Defoe with us!

I'd take Defoe. Ibra's just a Lord Bendtner wannabe, plus he's never played for England. Fuck knows where he's acquired this reputation from?
 
i'd rather have Defoe in our team. Zlatan in anyone's half decent.

have a £100 bet with a mate that JD will outscore him in the league this season aswell. it's alot closer than he was expecting :lol:
 
Defoe. Zlatan would break our wage structure.
Zlatan is obviously a much better player.

What the OP should have said is:
Which players style would suit Sunderland more. Defoes pace and counter attacking ability or Zlatans power and ability to bring people into play.
