I've met some truly mad Sunderland supporters .....

Reet here we go, was late 60's outside the Leazes, RK and the crew trying to get in, some mags ran at them, Celtic pulls the pop gun, minus the corks from under his mac and had the mags pinned against the wall, those that didn't run that is.
Sunderland were in the Leazes that day, was I boxing day I think, held their ground and even took it for a spell.
Was RK, Ham, Rosco,L.Calvert, Buttons,Wilfie, J.Summers etc

Heard that Story years ago. Often wondered if it was true as only one lad (TP) ever told it. He always said it was Celtic (not Sammy), and he said the Mags shit themselves, when they realised it was a toy they started pissing themselves laughing. Thanks for confirming it.

This story will be item one on my agenda next time I see TP in the Bell!

Was Celtic a ginger skinhead? Back in the early 70's l got picked up by the SAFCSA coach at Leeming Bar, and all l can say is it was a fun day in London, away to QPR! Skinhead, known as Celtic, kept appearing and disappearing all day..coming back with more and more war wounded. Big scrap on the tube at Shepherds Bush, someone had a finger end sliced off, another temporarily blinded by knitting needled

No he's not ginger, but I was and I was on that coach and remember the tube incident well, big black lad came at me with a pair of scissors.
Was Whitey from Seaham lost his finger end, trapped in the door between coaches.
My recollection it was not just QPR in the scrap, I think Chelsea were with them as well.

Gan for it mate. That story's great. While your on ask him about how he got the (at the time) highest ever fine in England.:lol::lol:
TP as in T.Porter?

The difference Steve, is that from mid 80s, it tended to be more "organised" and those who wanted frisk with each other could just crack on. However, the police were sussing things to an extent and there was segregation and far more all ticket games curbing large away followings.

The late 60s to a certain extent and 70s especially, were probably more dodgy.
No or little segregation, far too few coppers on match day (there was a report in one paper of the police presence at an safc-nufc derby and it was pitifully small by todays standards despite them saying it was massive at the time) and large gangs of lads milling about virtually unhindered dishing out kicking to those not even remotely interested in fighting.
Imho, the 60s and 70s were far worse than the more controlled, policed and organised days of mid 80s onwards.
Just my opinion.
I reckon you are right, it was f***ing scary going anywhere away in those days

Just remember one of our lot shouting "we've come all this way and the cockneys are frightened to fight us", then all hell broke out! Happy / scary days! :)

Shaun, coming out of NCS in the 70's and facing the scum mob waiting for us and coming out of the Geordie Pride opposite was an experience that those who were there will never forget, times since have been a doddle in comparison to those days, still good fun though now days.

Old mate of mine, remember him, his dad, his brother Dave and TP's mate McGuiness in the Bell one night it was the big black sideboards convention,

Great bloke TP. Haven't seen him for ages. Proper auld skin. Remember he knocked about with Kansas & Philly Usher (both RIP). Always good crack. Remember McGuiness an all.

Remember when I was a bairn. Palace at home in FA cup. Me & my mate were up to some skullduggery with CP fans down Roker where their coaches were. By time we got towards home Blue Bell was opened. Went in & TP was in with mates had 4 fedoras on stacked up one on top of other on his head( their fans were all wearing them) 2 CP silk scarfs
round his neck. "Alreet lads seen any Palace fans '

Knew about Philly but not Kansas, he was class lad RIP

Cracking thread.

Any of you lads got any tales of following England abroad?

Mainly Eastern Europe. Poland in 99 (Saski Park) looked f***ing mental

My mate had a gun pulled out on him somewhere in Eastern Europe late 90's/ 00's. Slovakia or Poland or somewhere like that. Daft arse smacked the lad with the gun and then ran off whilst he was stumbling back up.

Aldershot for the league game.

Did anyone, off here, go to that one?

If so did you see a mini coach with a flag in the back window featuring a big hand in the middle?

Or were you on the coach?
