How is your health kick going then?

Ive just retired, im not 65. Our diet is generally very goodbut mine has improved as Im not having to take/buy bait so Im usually having healthier food during the day.
I run but fell whilst running in the lakes in November, broke a rib and a bone in my hand.
Just got back to running over last three weeks and one swim a week. Two seven milers last week and a swim.
Another set back, literally my back again. Going to try a run today. Need to lose half a stone.

I was just messing and haven't actually started running yet, but I plan to once I shake this chest infection. I'm thinking of entering the Sunderland 10K and hoping I can get back to where I was before the year of illness last year.

In the mean time I've just been eating healthy and looking after myself better.

Hew I do enjoy reading your posts like, keep it up Becs.

I'd be fine, but after a 12 hour shift and you come back and the wifes worked the same, it's so much easier to say just order something, than say let's make tonights and tomorrows dinner on our 2 hours relax before sleeping and work again

I agree with what you are saying but for your shifts batch cooking is best and freezing it. Long term takeaways are not good for you.

I have knocked drink on the head and tabs which I started again over Christmas.
No processed food, no sugar except for an apple a day and maybe some mango or papaya.
I've started running and love it.
I've lost over a stone since new year and feel absolutely amazing.

Just another 3 to go.
Arnly kidding.

After a particularly heavy December, no booze or caffeine so far this year.

I don't think I've shifted any timber and I don't feel any better!
Ramping up the exercise again but going slowly.

Running three times a week, walking the other days. About 30 miles per week.

Nee booze, but that'll be blown out of the water this weekend.

Only 1 takeaway in 2017

still a fat get

My fitbit is keeping me going.
Still got a fair bit of timber to shift, but knocking the booze on the head for a while and exercising more should be helping.
20 flights of stairs, 3000 calories, 9km (possibly 10) and 10,000 steps a day - I aim to beat each target every day

And what's bad about that, the sugar?

Well apparently, although they do give you the nutrients from the fruit and veg, it gives you a massive sugar peak which your body doesnt like and the fibre is mostly broken down to mush so you dont get the benefit from that. Then theres the sugar rotting the teeth.
Not as good as I thought but its better than a biscuit and a cuppa during the day which I had before.

Spot on so far, not had a drink since the 30th of December. I reckon I could do the full 2017 if I wanted to alcohol free.

Started that Ketogenic diet (I think it's just the Atkins diet) and feel canny, plus lost the weight I stuck on over Christmas.

Not well. I don't eat a lot of sugary junk food, but have still had stuff left from christmas to get through. Just about there. Not done any exercise. I broke a toe on Christmas eve and I think I rebroke it trying to get off a bus (so I could have beer and curry after work) last week. When I can start walking properly, then my health kick will start.

I've got the same problem. Chest is still chronic and every time I cough I go dizzy and have an asthma attack, so the thought of exercise is a non starter. Bought a heart rate monitor and a cadence meter for my turbo trainer so hopefully I actually track my improvements this year, but at the minute it's still a clothes horse.

I'm going to try gentle swimming tonight and see how I go with that.

I'll not be able to put any decent effort into it as the January "lets faff about in the water yakking on so we can feel virtuous because we went swimming" people haven't dropped out yet.

That annoys me to. Swimming side by side taking up half the space.

Not as annoying as the people who go to pools on a Sunday afternoon during family swim sessions and try to swim serious lengths while you are messing about with the kids in the deep end.

Is'nt that about 6 lb a week ? My wife exaggerates a lot too.

Nothing has changed for me. I was at my target weight before xmas, and its moved up and down a pound or two, i've weighed myself this morning and am spot on target, without much effort or sacrifice. Fitness is down a tad, due to bad weather. Big test will be on my approaching hols. Always put weight on because i intend to enjoy my food and drink without restraint. It'll be a good incentive when i get back.
